It's one of those months again that there are tons of games being released, and so little time and money for them all.  It has almost become a new type of balancing act, trying to figure out which games to get and plan a month or two ahead of time. We also can't forget the holiday season is rapidly approaching, and from now until then there are a lot of releases coming down the pipes.  How to choose between all these? This past weekend I picked up Guitar Hero: World Tour.  I...

Just picked up Guitar Hero: World Tour a few hours ago, and have been trying to get drumming down.  The family has been playing and it’s fun.  This version has a ton of great songs.

This was one of those weekends where I wanted to play a bunch of games, but the wife....I mean I just didn't have enough time to get all my gaming done.  I did get some time in with The Political Machine 2008, I'm trying to cram as much play in before the elections as I can. I was in the mood for some FPS action, but really had a hard time deciding on what I wanted to play.  I've actually been interested in getting back into America's Army. So what did you play this weekend?

It’s been a while since I last asked this, so I thought it was a good time to see what games people are either still playing, or if they have moved onto something new. On the PC, I squeezed in a few hours with the Sins of a Solar Empire: Entrenchment beta.  I really had to limit myself, because I could have easily spent the whole weekend playing this, which is a good thing, but Saturday was Valentine’s Day and that could have led to future problems playing games. On Friday, I hopp...

The NPD group has published the top 20 best selling games of 2008, and Sins of a Solar Empire is on that list at number 14!  It should be noted also that this list does not count downloadable copies, which Sins also did an incredible amount of. “Mention must also be made of Sins of a Solar Empire , the best selling strategy game in 2008 in retail stores and number 14 on 2008's list. Considering that the title reportedly sold well in downloadable copies in addition to its ret...

The latest update in the Demigod blog at IGN comes from Dru Staltman and NateSimpson from Gas Powered Games.  They talk about the process of creating the characters featured in Demigod. " Imagine Hercules and Achilles locked in combat. The two heroes trading blow for blow in an epic melee. The heroes tossing each other through buildings, chasing each other across the fields of antiquity, and eventually a crushing defeat and valiant victory. This epic combat is something that would be f...

Well we missed a couple weeks, but I wanted to keep this going.  A lot of work this weekend catching up from my trip, so it wasn't a real big gaming weekend for me.  I did manage to get in a bit of gaming on the DS, which I played some Anno 1701, which is also a great PC game.  It wouldn't be a complete weekend without getting my hands dirty with the Demigod beta.  I would imagine quite a few of you felt the same way.  So, what did you play this weekend?

Frogboy showed off some pics of Stardock, Gas Powered Games, and Ironclad at PAX, but I wanted to show a more “lighter side” of things.  These images are courtesy of Melibee.  Big pictures are always cool.  You just can’t help but to pose in front of them. Not sure what this setup was, but it sure looks like fun!  Who is that getting ready to take a dive? ...

I thought it would be fun to take a quick informal poll on how many hours our members devote to playing games.  It’s probably hard for some to get an exact count of the hours, but I would be curious of a round-a-bout figure of your time invested per week. I would mine is near the 20-25 hour mark but it’s hard to say for sure.  That does include all types of gaming whether it’s on a PC, console, or portable. So what about you?
