Every day I visit tons of website, forums, and social networks for all types of topics, most of which are technology based in some sort of form.  This election cycle has really brought out the best of the liberal “group think” mentality regarding Obama.  On just about every social network Obama is praised as “the one” and any hint of disagreement with his policies or ideals is immediately responded with accusations of racism, or just plain insults.  Anybody who wants to claim that liberals are tolerant to others, please give me a shout because I can quickly debunk that.  Even here on our network of sites, there have been insults tossed at the slightest hint of either supporting McCain, or being against Obama.  I’m certainly not saying conservatives don’t dish out their fair share, but the mentality of liberals has once again bordered on the insane and hateful.

It’s tough being a proud conservative, as I will say what I think regardless of what the group and mob mentality is.  The real shame is so many people, especially bloggers in the tech area, are afraid to do the same.  I have received so many private notes and comments in support of standing up for conservatism, it’s almost crazy.  The best comparison I can make is how conservative actors in Hollywood are often ridiculed or turned down for roles because of their conservative beliefs, and the same mentality is going on right now in the blogosphere.  Conservative bloggers, some of which can be considered A-list are having to remain silent about their thoughts on Obama and McCain, simply because they are afraid of retribution from their employers or just not being able to pickup work from other sites.  It’s a shame, and it’s more telling about liberals than it is anything.

I am a conservative, I don’t like Obama, and I will never let anyone intimidate me because of that.

Actually, it scares me that someone perceived as so "charismatic" and is actually so imbecilic might actually make it into office.

Obama's better educated and more intelligent than McCain and Palin COMBINED.

Do you have the faintest idea of what it takes to head the Harvard Law Review?  Conservative AND Liberal, here's a SHORT list.

Prominent alumni of the Harvard Law Review include Supreme Court Justices Edward Sanford, Felix Frankfurter, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Antonin Scalia, Stephen Breyer and Chief Justice John G. Roberts, Jr., Presidential nominee Senator Barack Obama, Secretary of State Dean Acheson, Charles Hamilton Houston, Alger Hiss, Archibald MacLeish, Secretary of Transportation and Brown v. Board of Education attorney William Coleman, Jr., Judge Richard Posner, Chief Judge Henry Friendly, Judge Michael Boudin, U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff, former U.S. Solicitor General Paul Clement, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Chris Cox, print and broadcast journalist Jeffrey Toobin, former New York governor Eliot Spitzer, Harvard Law School Dean Elena Kagan, Yale Law School Dean Harold Koh, former Canadian ambassador Allan Gotlieb, former Assistant Attorney General Viet Dinh, former New York State Solicitor General Preeta D. Bansal, University of Texas President William C. Powers, and former Harvard University president Derek Bok.

So, what exactly does second-hand, unsubstantiated heresay have to do with this discussion.

Because it shows that Obama supporters are generally uninformed.

Live the lie.

So you're saying Fox News lies........but I assume anyone who doesn't believe as you believe lies and is wrong.

I already know BDBF is intolerant of anyone who can't see how right he is......

Obama's better educated and more intelligent than McCain and Palin COMBINED.

In your opinion only.

on Nov 03, 2008

It's pointless to talk to anybody who keeps using "Faux News" and "neocons" in their arguements.

Says the guy who's been posting nothing but blog-spam and right wing op-ed drivel...ahem.

But, for the record...

NEOCON, as in short for NEOCONSERVATIVE.

Faux News is what many have come to refer to when they discovered that Fox News was just parroting White House talking points provided daily as part of a concerted White House propaganda initiative.

This is the actual video of the actual White House spokesperson who did this...and has since come clean quite publicly about it.

It just happens to be hosted on crooksandliars.com (thanks Google!) but the video is what I am talking about here.

on Nov 03, 2008

In your opinion only.

How would you like me to quantify this for you? Something that even the right wing conceded long ago.  After all, they don't bring this up at all, now do they?

If anyone asked Sarah Palin about the Khmer Rouge, she'd tell you what her favorite lipstick is.

I already know BDBF is intolerant of anyone who can't see how right he is......

I've had a whole lot of intolerence pitched my way in this thread Lantec.  All you have to do his read.

ID thanks for the video.......my sides hurt from watching it. My secreatary had to run to the bathroom cause she's afraid she laughed so hard she might of had an accident.

Because it shows that Obama supporters are generally uninformed.

No, it shows the ONE person he is supposedly quoting (though there is no citation whatsoever here) may or may not be (since we don't know if this person even exists).

Like I said, the woman who ignorantly claimed Obama is "an A-rab" is about as dumb as they come, but I'm not stupid enough to pretend she represents the entire electorate voting for McCain.

on Nov 03, 2008

The ignorant in our electorate are not big on reading.  They want their news spoon fed to them and their opinions handed to them in easily-digested sound bites that they can regurgitate on command.

on Nov 03, 2008

Besides if you all read through this thread what you would see is the following: upon stating I'm in support of Obama I've been told I must be a poor judge of character, can not be doing so for acceptable reasons, that I am racist or siding with racists and that I will be supporting terrorists and genocidal dictators.  Yet I have said nothing of a demeaning or derogatory nature to anyone saying they support McCain or intend to vote for McCain.

I certainly haven't agreed with all the negatives posted regarding OBama and I reiterated my intention to go ahead and vote my conscious.

on Nov 03, 2008

They're coming almost too fast to keep up with.......

Obama's better educated and more intelligent than McCain and Palin COMBINED.

Let's examine this statement a second. From a real worldpoint of view....not a political one.

I have 2 people applying for the same job with my company.................

One person has many years of experience w/above average competence and a fairly standard education.

The other person has limited experience w/no way to verify competence but a top-notch education.

I'd have to say that, to me as an employer, it's a no-brainer.

from an earlier post about Obama's Senate credentials

From his resume.....damn......I ccan't believe he's still a Senatore with a 2% success rate......

  • Number of sponsored bills: 70
  • Number of sponsored bills passed: 2
  • Number of co-sponsored bills: 404
  • Number of co-sponsored bills passed: 8

I don't think people vote for him because he's good at what he does.....my opinion

on Nov 03, 2008

I'd have to say that, to me as an employer, it's a no-brainer.

Are you saying you did or didn't vote for Bush in 2000?

Bush had NO Senate credentials and pitiful educational marks.  But was handed the Governorship of Texas (by the Texas political machine) because he had failed miserably in every other job he has ever held.

Which, as it turns out, his poor marks and legendary failures were an EXCELLENT predictor of just how terrible a commander in chief he would turn out to be.

So if you voted for Bush, you can't use the experience argument against Obama.  That would be hypocritical of you.

Regardless, it depends on the JOB!  For President of the United States, I want the guy who is VERY intelligent, hard working, and can work with both sides of the aisle AND the American people to bring solutions to problems.

Feel free to hire McCain after the election if you so chose.  He's going to be in need of a job come 2010.

on Nov 03, 2008

Are you saying you did or didn't vote for Bush in 2000?

didn't in 2000 did in 2004

on Nov 03, 2008

and can work with both sides of the aisle

I've seen no evidence of this to date. In fact the resume items I quoted seem to show an inability to convince others that his plan(s) are good ones.
