Every day I visit tons of website, forums, and social networks for all types of topics, most of which are technology based in some sort of form.  This election cycle has really brought out the best of the liberal “group think” mentality regarding Obama.  On just about every social network Obama is praised as “the one” and any hint of disagreement with his policies or ideals is immediately responded with accusations of racism, or just plain insults.  Anybody who wants to claim that liberals are tolerant to others, please give me a shout because I can quickly debunk that.  Even here on our network of sites, there have been insults tossed at the slightest hint of either supporting McCain, or being against Obama.  I’m certainly not saying conservatives don’t dish out their fair share, but the mentality of liberals has once again bordered on the insane and hateful.

It’s tough being a proud conservative, as I will say what I think regardless of what the group and mob mentality is.  The real shame is so many people, especially bloggers in the tech area, are afraid to do the same.  I have received so many private notes and comments in support of standing up for conservatism, it’s almost crazy.  The best comparison I can make is how conservative actors in Hollywood are often ridiculed or turned down for roles because of their conservative beliefs, and the same mentality is going on right now in the blogosphere.  Conservative bloggers, some of which can be considered A-list are having to remain silent about their thoughts on Obama and McCain, simply because they are afraid of retribution from their employers or just not being able to pickup work from other sites.  It’s a shame, and it’s more telling about liberals than it is anything.

I am a conservative, I don’t like Obama, and I will never let anyone intimidate me because of that.

So if you voted for Bush, you can't use the experience argument against Obama
Obama is not running against Bush.

Regardless, it depends on the JOB! For President of the United States, I want the guy who is VERY intelligent, hard working, and can work with both sides of the aisle AND the American people to bring solutions to problems
Sounds like a description of John McCain.

I had a discussion with someone the other day about why they were voting for Obama. These were her sole reasons:

So, what exactly does second-hand, unsubstantiated heresay have to do with this discussion?!

There are ignorant, gray-haired, deep south/Texas bigoted moron geezers who are only voting for McCain because Obama is...gasp...a black man.

But I'm not naive enough to pretend that those few bigots represent ALL McCain voters.  That would be an utter fallacy.

I used her as an example, because she is part of the majority of voters out there. I have watched several different news channels and the majority of interviews with people who are voting Obama are eerily similar to my experience. No one seems to be coming to any kind of logical conclusion any more. And at the same time, there are those people who are voting for Obama because he's black and don't want to be called a racist.

Because it shows that Obama supporters are generally uninformed.

 To Island Dog's video:

HAHA. Can you, yes or no, name Obama's accomplishments?

uh, uh, CHICKEN!

Edit: I realize he didn't say chicken in the video, but he might as well have.

One more day and OB is gonna be ur prez.

He better or you lot are gonna look just a bit silly

You have 2 months and 16 days AFTER tomorrow to worry about it.  Obama, regardless of the outcome, is not going to be president Wednesday.

I didn't allege anything and there's nothing for me to prove to you oh self-appointed expert in conservative stink bait.

I thought you were going to ignore me.  Is that how you uphold your promises?

And unless you want to be thought the fool, you do have to prove it.  You made the statement, now back it up.

I didn't vote for Bush for anything he ran for.  But I can't and will not vote for Obama.

I think I'm noticing the smell of stale hot air in the forums again seems to be coming from this thread.

I don't care who y'are, that's funny.

Obama is not running against Bush.

Never said he was.  You might want to READ my post and what I responding to, re: hypocrisy in holding one candidate to conditions you didn't or don't hold another candidate to.

Sounds like a description of John McCain.

Only if you've never read his biography...

So are SKINHEADS.  It doesn't mean that they represent the MAJORITY of that majority.  Ahem.

Again, just because there are people like THIS in this country doesn't mean they represent all of the Republican OR Democratic electorate.

on Nov 03, 2008

I've seen no evidence of this to date.

Just take a look at his CAMPAIGN.  He's run it masterfully, kept control of it, kept the negative baiting to a minimum, has pulled his own supporters back if they've gone to far, etc.

AND, in direct refutation of your "argument", he's gathered the explicit support of an entire cadre of leading conversatives AND liberals, Republicans AND Democrats, military, civilian, AND political.

And that's just in the runup to the White House.

...

I had a discussion with someone the other day about why they were voting for Obama. These were her sole reasons...

My 24-year-old daughter has been out campaigning for Obama (her reasons for voting him for him trump the reason your quoted Obama voter listed, among them is that she believes abortion should be an issue between a woman and her doctor); of interest, she asked one of the people she talked to their reasons for voting for McCain:

"Because my 12-year-old daughter told me to."

I've heard of family values, but this is ridiculous.  I'm not going to judge all McCain voters based on this one voter's reasons, just wanted to point out that just because ONE voter has the judgment of a dish rag, does not mean ALL voters of a particular candidate have the judgment of a dish rag.

just because ONE voter has the judgment of a dish rag, does not mean ALL voters of a particular candidate have the judgment of a dish rag.

Agreed 100%.

Sad news for Mr. Obama today.  His grandmother just passed away.

His grandmother just passed away.

Condolences are in order.  Too bad she didn't live to see him elected (assuming that's the outcome).

on Nov 03, 2008

I was so hoping she would see the outcome. This is so disappointing. My heartfelt condolences for a good woman. This is a loss for everyone.
