Every day I visit tons of website, forums, and social networks for all types of topics, most of which are technology based in some sort of form.  This election cycle has really brought out the best of the liberal “group think” mentality regarding Obama.  On just about every social network Obama is praised as “the one” and any hint of disagreement with his policies or ideals is immediately responded with accusations of racism, or just plain insults.  Anybody who wants to claim that liberals are tolerant to others, please give me a shout because I can quickly debunk that.  Even here on our network of sites, there have been insults tossed at the slightest hint of either supporting McCain, or being against Obama.  I’m certainly not saying conservatives don’t dish out their fair share, but the mentality of liberals has once again bordered on the insane and hateful.

It’s tough being a proud conservative, as I will say what I think regardless of what the group and mob mentality is.  The real shame is so many people, especially bloggers in the tech area, are afraid to do the same.  I have received so many private notes and comments in support of standing up for conservatism, it’s almost crazy.  The best comparison I can make is how conservative actors in Hollywood are often ridiculed or turned down for roles because of their conservative beliefs, and the same mentality is going on right now in the blogosphere.  Conservative bloggers, some of which can be considered A-list are having to remain silent about their thoughts on Obama and McCain, simply because they are afraid of retribution from their employers or just not being able to pickup work from other sites.  It’s a shame, and it’s more telling about liberals than it is anything.

I am a conservative, I don’t like Obama, and I will never let anyone intimidate me because of that.

So what I'm hearing you say is the sources you mention ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN are fair and balanced while any source other than these is right-wing? I guess the term "Liberal Media" is a misnomer.

Faux News is 90% neocon.  They even admit to getting their daily talking points directly from the White House.

Other outlets vary day to day or lean in the 10-25% liberal, depending on if the issue being covered is a social or financial one.  MSNBC is trending even more liberal than that, thanks to "truth to power" Keith Olbermann.

They have run against his issues, you just need to pay attention. His character and judgement is just as important as his policies, which 0bama fails on both.

Their lies do not equal actual fact.   Just because they say it enough times, doesn't make it real.

Everything they have brought up is a non issue and you know it.   And you've let a whole bunch of non-issues add up to doubt, which is all they ever wanted to accomplish.  So, congratulations, you fell for it.

Actually, he PREVENTED WW3

How so? Are you saying that there were never nukes in Cuba thanks to Kennedy? That's TOTAL bullshit.

He had a pissing match with the Soviets and it almost went too far. The nukes made it to Cuba anyway....just slightly delayed.

Where did they admit that?  It's really hard to argue with people who believe the "faux news" nonsense.  LOL.

Hanging around and getting guidance from socialists, marxist, dictators, and terorrists, is not a non-issue.  If you think that, then there is truley no hope for anyone who votes for Obama.  You notice that nobody has given a straight answer about Obama and his relations, they just tend to avoid the issue and give vague explanations like you have done.

I drew no such distinction.  I included major newspapers and periodicals.  I go to the Library and read for free from time to time.  But I don't want to really admit that to you conservatives lest you accuse me of being influenced by handouts and mount a compaign to end all government financing of "welfare" libraries.

That's from a liberal perspective. From a conservative perspective it's 100%. I won't get my news from ABC/CNN or NBC (MSNBC) because they are so blatant. I rarely get my news from the creators of "Yellow Journalism" at CBS either. I tend to listen more to BBC but I keep in mind they tend to slant World opinion their direction. I personally love Fox News.

One day until we found out whether or not this country will turn into a crap-hole or not. Let's hope that everything turns out for the most and McCain gets elected.

I had a discussion with someone the other day about why they were voting for Obama. These were her sole reasons:

1. He is really really handsome.

2. I like the way he talks. He is such a good speaker.

3. He gives off such a sense of hope.

When I asked her about the issues she replied:

"I don't really follow the issues. I am voting for Obama because he will bring change."

I replied by asking her what she thought of these issues:

1. Abortion- She finds it wrong.

2. Taxes- She doesn't like taxes because she doesn't get all of her paycheck.

3. The War in Iraq- She thinks we should pull out.

4. Universal Healthcare- She didn't know what it was until I explained, at which point she "thinks" she likes it.

5. A candidate that has ties with people who hate America. (I explained by saying, they could included wives who have smeared the U.S., preachers who hate the U.S. openly, or colleagues who have committed terrorists acts; ) -She replied by saying that if anyone of the candidates were friends with any of those people, she would most definitly not vote for them.

6. Experience- She thought the candidate with the most expereience should probably be elected.

There were a few more issues/topics that I discussed with her, but forget how the conversation went so I won't mention them. After she gave me her opinion on each of these, I proceeded to explain to her each candidates stance/poisition on each topic. As I was explaining them to her, I could tell she was beginning to realize that she actually sided with McCain through a little more than half of the issues. After explaining everything, I asked her again, "Who are you voting for and why?"

She replied, "Obama. He's just going to bring change and He gives if such a sense of hope."

I sighed and walked out of the room. It makes me sick to see such ignorant people as this. If you have good reasons to vote for Obama and you can defend your choice, awesome. (Props to you, Excalpius) But if you are just going to vote for Obama because he's good-looking and He says He is going to bring change, then use these last 24 hours to look over all the issues. PLEASE, PLEASE don't go to the polls ignorant and cast your ballot for someone because they look nice. Here's to hoping McCain gets elected.

In the many years I have been alive I have found that you can only talked intelligently about topics that you are willing to take the time and make the effort to learn about.

I personally love Fox News.

And yes, that is EXACTLY how some of us see the neocons and what they've done to our great nation.

Well that's been my experience those who tend to view mostly Fox News have one track minds.  You know like Homer whose doughnut has vote Republican on the icing.  There's a Fox News fan right there all right.

on Nov 03, 2008

It's pointless to talk to anybody who keeps using "Faux News" and "neocons" in their arguements.  I thin the Dailykos is better suited for that.

Yeah, not even himself. I love hearing his speeches; when asked ANY question, he dances all around the subject, and ends up speaking about something off-subject. And when he's stumped, or he doesn't have a planned answer, he stammers. I love to hear him stammer.

Actually, it scares me that someone perceived as so "charismatic" and is actually so imbecilic might actually make it into office.

I had a discussion with someone the other day about why they were voting for Obama. These were her sole reasons:

So, what exactly does second-hand, unsubstantiated heresay have to do with this discussion?!

There are ignorant, gray-haired, deep south/Texas bigoted moron geezers who are only voting for McCain because Obama is...gasp...a black man.

But I'm not naive enough to pretend that those few bigots represent ALL McCain voters.  That would be an utter fallacy.
