Every day I visit tons of website, forums, and social networks for all types of topics, most of which are technology based in some sort of form.  This election cycle has really brought out the best of the liberal “group think” mentality regarding Obama.  On just about every social network Obama is praised as “the one” and any hint of disagreement with his policies or ideals is immediately responded with accusations of racism, or just plain insults.  Anybody who wants to claim that liberals are tolerant to others, please give me a shout because I can quickly debunk that.  Even here on our network of sites, there have been insults tossed at the slightest hint of either supporting McCain, or being against Obama.  I’m certainly not saying conservatives don’t dish out their fair share, but the mentality of liberals has once again bordered on the insane and hateful.

It’s tough being a proud conservative, as I will say what I think regardless of what the group and mob mentality is.  The real shame is so many people, especially bloggers in the tech area, are afraid to do the same.  I have received so many private notes and comments in support of standing up for conservatism, it’s almost crazy.  The best comparison I can make is how conservative actors in Hollywood are often ridiculed or turned down for roles because of their conservative beliefs, and the same mentality is going on right now in the blogosphere.  Conservative bloggers, some of which can be considered A-list are having to remain silent about their thoughts on Obama and McCain, simply because they are afraid of retribution from their employers or just not being able to pickup work from other sites.  It’s a shame, and it’s more telling about liberals than it is anything.

I am a conservative, I don’t like Obama, and I will never let anyone intimidate me because of that.

Well, it just sad...  although I am conservative in my views I think we have reached a wonderful time when we can finally consider an African-American or a woman for that matter, to run for the office of President and be able to base our vote on his/her policy rather than his color or her gender.  But I think it would be a mistake to vote for someone as liberal as Obama.

He talks about only taxing those who make over 250,000 dollars per year.  What people fail to realize is that this includes many medium to small business owners. They fall in this category which will affect you and especially the lower income because it is they that give the lower in of the social class thier jobs.   So don’t expect the unemployment rate to turn around anytime soon.  We will be forever in debt to the Middle East for oil and after we soon pull our troops out of Iraq we have to send them to Israel because we would give Iran the freedom to march straight to Israel.  Don’t think anyone else will stop them because every other country in that region will be cheering them on.

Then again, maybe all is good and we will all have jobs and medical insurance, but no one will be able to afford anything, just like it did during the Carter years.

The politicians don't just want your money. They want your soul. They want you to be worn down by taxes until you are dependent and helpless. When you subsidize poverty and failure, you get more of both.

re  #133, #135, and #141:

As I already pointed out to CarGuy1 (#87), the remarks attributed to Obama in that "quote" were not made by him but were from a satirical piece by John Semmens.  Obama was not on Meet the Press on September 7.  If he had really made those remarks on that program or elsewhere, he would have been fried in the press.

it's true.....Jimmy Carter is a good man and a great humanitarian.....all made possible by being the absolute worst President of the 20th Century.

Chart of taxes paid by income group.

What I find curious is how anyone can believe that increasing the top 5% tax braclet to the 38.9% range and giving the other 95% a tax cut will possibily add up to anything but massive deficent spending not even counting the trillion dollar increase (832 Bil) that Obama is proposing, especially in light of the estismated (now) 2.8 trillion the various bailout programs are costing.

Do you blame the patient when the doctor misdiagnoses your illness or do you blame the doctor who went to school and was supposedly an expert in the field, paid BY YOU to advise you on this issue?

Interesting comparison, but peoples lives are not at stake if a loan officer gives a loan to someone who is not qualified to have it. Doctors are not perfect and they will not always get it right, but they are not giving the same diagnosis based on a set of rules to everyone. This is a very poor comparison to say the least. The person did not see the doctor because they were looking for a new liver or lung. If you gonna try to prove me wrong please try something better than some out-of-the-blue not-compatable argument (if it can be called that).

good man and a great humanitarian

Just didn't quite "get" how some folks might not cotton to having people who want to kill them live next door.

Doctors are not perfect and they will not always get it right

Thanks, CharlesCS. That's quite true.

Lets remember:

Many people don't pay taxes.

Therefore.....they don't get a tax cut.

They get....welfare.

People who will pay more taxes with 0bama are:

  • Small businesses
  • Employers
  • Producers

Please tell me the last time you got a job from a person with no job that doen't pay taxes?

No, I haven't been living on a icebert. Trash is your characterization that you made to suit your purposes and little else. You have also failed to show in any legitimate way how Obama has denied women's rights.

Reading is apparently not your strong point.  WOuld you care to show me where I said Obama has denied women any rights?  Or are you just going to laugh at typos?

My posts on this topic are clear, I will in no way support any destruction of the present Social Security system as proposed by Bush's appointee Biggs, the Cato Institute and other Republican idealogues who want to take the Social Security Trust Fund and turn it over to Wall Street. Plain and simple Dr. Guy. The links I provided in this thread clearly support and corrorborate my postion on this matter.

The links - which in no way reflected proposals on the table - not withstanding, what you are saying is that you do not trust your own judgement.  So you expect others to follow you?  And if you do not support the present social security system, do you intend to avail yourself of it when eligible?  Because then you will not only be supporting it, you will be actively destroying it.  Or are you unaware of the current system's resources and obligations?  Or perhaps do not know what a Ponzi scheme is?

If it gets to this point where there is actual legislation to look at then I'll re-consider what your saying until then your arguement is a strawman.

Dont remember Martin Niemoeller do you?

kenwas

of 0.2% of GDP.

True with that comparison.

And a false argument.  The point should not be to increase the percent of GDP consumption, but to increase revenues.  But to a liberal, it is not about the money, but who should control it, so I guess that is why they cant see dollars for doughnuts.

There's a HUGE difference between a properly vetted and facted check news organization's main articles and the politico blogosphere who are writing simple OPINION-EDITORIAL pieces.

If someone can't be bothered to discern the difference between FACT and OPINION, then it's no surprise they have trouble reading between the lines to determine the TRUTH from SPIN.

SO US NEws and World is just a liberal Opinion rag?  And you have some sort of documentation to support this?

Other than the fact you are probably right, what sources would you agree on?  Since you have just excluded virtually every major mainstream news application with your sweeping condemnation.  DO you know the difference?  Somehow your sweeping negation of all sources indicates not.

Actually, that minority legal opinion has since been thoroughly discretid.

Regardless, the right of habeus corpus is one of the founding principles of Western Law for 400 years. And like the Geneva Conventions regarding torturing prisoners of War, they were established and agreed upon by all civilized nations specifically to keep TYRANTS from throwing away inalienable human rights in the name of FEAR, convenience, and expediency.

A lot of non sequitir, but it does not change the facts of the case, nor does trying to obfuscate the facts change them.  If you would like to get back to the point, that is fine, however, the right does not exist.  They can be granted priveleges, but not rights.  Perhaps you should learn the difference.

So you work for bookies, drug dealers and pimps? He wasn't asking who doesn't, he was asking when the last time YOU had a job where your boss didn't pay taxes.

I was adding the qualifier since his comment was not directed at me. I actually haven't had a boss since May of 1991 when I started my own business. But I do pay personal taxes in the top 10% as well as about 30% of business revenues.
