Every day I visit tons of website, forums, and social networks for all types of topics, most of which are technology based in some sort of form.  This election cycle has really brought out the best of the liberal “group think” mentality regarding Obama.  On just about every social network Obama is praised as “the one” and any hint of disagreement with his policies or ideals is immediately responded with accusations of racism, or just plain insults.  Anybody who wants to claim that liberals are tolerant to others, please give me a shout because I can quickly debunk that.  Even here on our network of sites, there have been insults tossed at the slightest hint of either supporting McCain, or being against Obama.  I’m certainly not saying conservatives don’t dish out their fair share, but the mentality of liberals has once again bordered on the insane and hateful.

It’s tough being a proud conservative, as I will say what I think regardless of what the group and mob mentality is.  The real shame is so many people, especially bloggers in the tech area, are afraid to do the same.  I have received so many private notes and comments in support of standing up for conservatism, it’s almost crazy.  The best comparison I can make is how conservative actors in Hollywood are often ridiculed or turned down for roles because of their conservative beliefs, and the same mentality is going on right now in the blogosphere.  Conservative bloggers, some of which can be considered A-list are having to remain silent about their thoughts on Obama and McCain, simply because they are afraid of retribution from their employers or just not being able to pickup work from other sites.  It’s a shame, and it’s more telling about liberals than it is anything.

I am a conservative, I don’t like Obama, and I will never let anyone intimidate me because of that.

I love it when people complain about tax cuts as if evil corporations where taking money from the poor.

Um, nowhere in my post was I referring to tax cuts.  Did you mean to respond to someone else's post?

The $6 trillion Bushco has handed to their cronies was borrowed from China, Russia, and Japan and taxpayers will be paying off those graft loans for decades to come.

It has nothing to do with tax cuts.  I'll just assume you were misquoting.

How about THIS for a "redistribution of wealth"? Bring up on felony fraud charges and seize the assets of all of these financial company scumbags who gamed the system and have nearly bankrupted the world economy? While corporate law would allow them to declare bankruptcy and keep their ill-gotten gains, criminal law (since they are clearly guilty of all manner of fiscal malfeasance involving hiding these losses from the shareholders, regulators, etc.) would be a great way to punish the guilty and obtain some restitution for the American taxpayer.

Hmm, when you say tax payers, are you talking about the same wealthy people who pay most of the countries taxes or the ones (like me) who don't pay crap and get money back on top of that? BTW, if we gonna punish people for cheating the system then maybe we should arrest the homeowners who took loans they new they couldn't afford as well and decided to default on and are part of this whole mess, talk about irresponsibility. I mean, after all, the banks screwed up for making the loans, but I seriously doubt they had guns to the peoples heads when they were signing the loans. Typical to point fingers at one side while ignoraing the whole picture. No wonder this country is so screwed.

Figure it out for yourself.

Pretty much have already, but thanks for the tip.

Hmm, when you say tax payers, are you talking about the same wealthy people who pay most of the countries taxes or the ones (like me) who don't pay crap and get money back on top of that?

Actually while the wealthiest top percent pay more per person, the vast majority of actual total tax revenue comes from the millions of middle class taxpayers.  So while they pay less per person, they make up for it in volume.

Either way, the majority of the graft went to Bushco cronies who moved their companies overseas in preparation for these events early this decade.  They don't pay anything in taxes to the good old US of A.

Do you blame the patient when the doctor misdiagnoses your illness or do you blame the doctor who went to school and was supposedly an expert in the field, paid BY YOU to advise you on this issue?

And yes, in actuality, 1/3 of the foreclosures are wealthy home "flippers"...amateur real estate speculators who deserve whatever comes to them, but the worst cases where entire subdivisions are being destroyed were due to fraudalent applications prepared with fraudulent information prepared without the homeowner's consent.  A number of the largest home builders are facing federal charges for falsifying information in order to get homeowner's approved.

So yes, lock em up.

But what about the RENTERS?  There is a huge problem right now with people who have been paying their rent but the owners of the properties have not been paying their mortgages, so all of a sudden, without warning, you're on the street.

You want to blame the honest renters for that too?!

If FDR's administration could do it, so can we. TRUST? Heck no. Read my other post. How can we supervise effectively? But trust? Never: Not Dems NOR Repubs.

on Oct 27, 2008

In fact, thanks to the HMO scumbags, we're all paying THEM to tell US what we can and cannot be treated for, etc. etc. If you got rid of them entirely, and the monstrous administrative costs we engender in our thoroughly broken system, we'd be doing just fine compared to the rest of the world in quality of care and cost per person...instead of being #38 behind, um, Columbia.

The HMO profits and administrative costs come directly out of YOUR premiums and cost American lives every day in this country.

If the HMOs had kept patient care their top priority WHILE keeping costs in line, our entire nation wouldn't be in the state it is in right now. So, as for me, I say they had their chance. Revoke the Nixon era law that Kaiser had created the HMO with and bid them adieu.

But I'm kind of radically anti-HMO. As an employer, I've seen what they've done to businesses (large and small) and every hard-working American citizen.

Just HMO's? EVERY insurance company is the same! Stockholder driven medical care yields only angry and ignored patients, frustrated and harried physicians and rich CEO;s/Executives. No matter...it's ok if you get a dividend check, right?

Well.. he might have scored us some extra cash from the deals he made with Korea to sell information to them about our nuclear weapons. No one seems to wonder how Korea's nuclear weapons programs had suddenly advanced 30+ years in the 8 years Clingon was president?

I'm assuming you mean North Korea.

You read that as more sinister than I intended.  Conspiracy theory much?

Regardless, many companies had a direct pipeline to the White House and it wasn't hard to predict the fall of the dollar, for example, since Cheney said explicitly "deficits don't matter", which has become the mantra of his administration.

Similarly, only one company was large enough to rebuild Iraq...not coincidentally Haliburton/KBR, Dick Cheney's company.  They've pocketed a trillion dollars from us according to some estimates and promptly moved to Dubai in time to cash the checks outside the US of A.

And, adding insult to injury, "In February 2004, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) released a report on government contractorsPDF (774 KiB) that use offshore tax havens. It ranks the contractors in terms of the size of the contractors and provides information about how many subsidiaries the companies have offshore. Using data of the end of 2001, Halliburton ranked 30, had 17 offshore companies in tax havens, and 131 foreign subsidiaries."

Precisely, but it was Kaiser's deal with Nixon that created HMOs and turned the landscape of American health care into what it is today.

Which, therefore I agree with. The question is HOW CAN WE SUPERVISE THEM ADEQUATELY? How can we get the transparency needed to keep the politicians (of BOTH parties) under adequate surveillance?

NOTHING scared the politicians more than that bombardment of protest from the American people regarding the first bailout proposal.  100% negative scared the ever loving crap out of them.

on Oct 27, 2008

I’m a conservative which to me means I put country before party. I think Bobby Kennedy would have made one of the all time best presidents. I just want the best person to lead us, the economy is only one aspect. As far as I’m concerned everyone from the people who knew they were living beyond their means right on up to the CEO’s are responsible for this mess. I think both parties are responsible as well. If either party claims it was all the other then I think “Bullshit!” I don’t feel like either side has a good fix but if regulation means the government will keep an eye on the assholes and make sure they do what they’re supposed to be doing I’m all for it.

Another aspect to leading this country should be integrity but it doesn’t seem to matter, it still does to me. I think a lot of things when I think about McCain but is he telling the truth isn’t one of them. He may not be perfect but I don’t feel his integrity is questionable, Democrats even said he should not have been considered a part of the Keating Five. To link him with GWB to me is just a political ploy. First I don’t feel the republicans are the only one’s responsible and second McCain should detest Bush after what he and his campaign pulled on McCain when they spread the rumor that cost him the nomination.

I don’t feel this way about Obama, when I hear him speak I wonder if he’s telling the truth or is he someone who will associate with anyone no matter if they’re preaching hate or laughing because they got away with murder to get what he wants. I feel like the Democrats were nothing but race or gender this time, gender didn’t make it so what does that leave? I’m going to say the Hell with being politically correct and ask outright. Is the real story that Obama wants to become the first black president? Will he do or say anything to get this? Does he really care about America or is that just a slogan?  When this thing about ACORN came out why did Obama say it was just a distraction cooked up by the Republicans? Why isn’t he spearheading the investigation into ACORN? It’s evident that until the Primaries they were closely associated, were they his first campaigner’s?  I feel cheated, my one vote means nothing. How is that not undermining our country? I don’t have a problem with the first black president or the first female president but whatever their race or gender I do want them to be honorable.

As you can see I still have issues and a post earlier addressed another of my issues but didn’t seem to me to get addressed by the group so I’m going to bring it back up and maybe someone can clue me in on why I would want these qualities in a leader.

BTW I don’t think it’s the end of the world no matter who wins, that’s not what I’m about. To me everything I’m concerned about is legitimate, I’m not pissed off and I’m not trying to piss anyone off. Peace.

Obama is unfit to serve as president. He is unpatriotic and would like to see the demise of the United States as a free nation. Do you people realize that he wants to disarm America to the point where we could be taken over by the middle east. His wife is anti American and is a flag burner. He has known terrorist ties and he belongs to a racist church. Hell, in his opinion we should have a Coke comercial jingle as the National Anthem. There are so many other reasons not to vote for him from his socialist stance on health care to what his plans are for my 401k. It's for damn sure he won't get my vote. It blows my mind that he made it to the Senate. It just goes to show how blind libs really are.

The following taken from a transcipt of Meet The Press should scare the hell out of any Patriotic American.

On 'Meet the Press' Sun, 07 Sept. 2008 11:48:04 EST - Senator Obama was asked about his stance on the American Flag.

General Bill Ginn' USAF asked Obama to explain why he doesn't  follow protocol when the National Anthem is played.

The General also stated to the Senator that according to the United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171... During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform are expected to stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart.   At the very least, 'Stand and Face It'

Senator Obama stated,

As I've said about the flag pin, I don't want to be perceived as taking sides, Obama said.   There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression.   And the anthem itself conveys a war-like message.   You know, the bombs bursting in air and all. It should be swapped for something less parochial and less bellicose.   I like the song 'I'd Like To Teach the World To Sing.'   If that were our anthem, then I might salute it.

We should consider to reinvent our National Anthem as well as to redesign our Flag to better offer our enemies hope and love.   It's my intention, if elected, to disarm America to the level of acceptance to our Middle East Brethren.'

If we as a Nation of warring people, should conduct ourselves as the nations of Islam, whereas peace prevails, perhaps a state or period of mutual concord could exist between our governments. When I become President, I will seek a pact or agreement to end hostilities between those who have been at war or in a state of enmity, and a freedom from disquieting oppressive thoughts.   We as a Nation have placed upon the nations of Islam an unfair injustice.

My wife disrespects the Flag for many personal reasons.   Together she and I have attended several flag burning ceremonies in the past, many years ago.  She has her views and I have mine.   Of course now, I have found myself about to become the President of the United States and I have put aside my hatred.   I will use my power to bring CHANGE to this Nation, and offer the people a new path of hope.   My wife and I look forward to becoming our Country's First Family.  Indeed, CHANGE is about to overwhelm the United States of America .
