We are well into 2009, but the PC game awards for 2008 have not stopped yet, but we aren’t complaining! The latest news comes from Maximum PC which has published their top PC game awards for 2008, and Sins of a Solar Empire made the list. “Sure, it’s a 4X (eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, eXterminate) space-exploration RTS and plays a lot like a real-time version of the board game Risk, but it’s one of the most fun and engrossing multiplayer RTSes we’ve ever played. The real risk (in sp...

With the release coming up very soon, Steve Butts over at IGN put in some time with the Sins of a Solar Empire expansion, Entrenchment, and gives a great in-depth preview. “Next week Ironclad will be releasing the first ever micro-expansion for our 2008 Game of the Year, Sins of a Solar Empire. Titled Entrenchment, the new addition to the Sins franchise brings a host of defense-oriented improvements that should help players beat back the dreaded pirate surge and also put a stop to aggr...
Gamasutra is one of my favorite gaming sites, and their opinion pieces are definitely worth a read. I just got this one in my inbox and I wanted to share it with everyone. “Amidst the neverending talk about how the PC is changing or declining as a market for hardcore games, outside of perennial chart-crusher World of Warcraft, commentators seem to lose sight of the historic strengths of the platform and its place in the gaming world. Meanwhile, studios like Valv...

The new studio will create up to 50 much-needed jobs in the state of Michigan and will be responsible for an as-of-yet unannounced RPG title developed and published by independent developer Stardock Entertainment. When evaluating where to open the second studio, Stardock considered several other states in which to open it due to the relatively high costs of recrui...

I took some time this weekend to just sit down and play some Sins of a Solar Empire: Entrenchment without interruption. I will admit I still have a lot to learn, but the most important thing to me is I just have a blast playing. My PC is getting dated and it doesn’t run as many games as it used to, but it runs Sins just beautifully. Here are a few shots I grabbed from my game.

It’s all a very good read. “ Getting off topic for a second --all we hear is that the PC is a dying platform and that if you shun console development you are doomed to fail. How are you guys making it work? If everyone is moving to the console or releasing substandard PC ports that leaves...

But that doesn't mean that the teams at Ironclad or Stardock are resting on their laurels. They've recently released the first micro-expansion for the game, Sins of a Solar Empire: Entrenchment ...
Over the past couple of days, there has been quite a few rumors that big-name game retailers were going to cut down sales of titles such as Dawn of War II. The reason behind this was that executives didn’t like the fact that the game would install the Steam client, which includes their store. Let me point out again that this is a rumor, but it does bring up a good point. Impulse Reactor is slated to be released this spring, and this will allow game developers to us...
