Arizona signed into law a new “controversial” law which makes it a crime to be an illegal immigrant.  Strange, because I thought that being illegal in the first place was a crime.  With more and more violent crimes being committed by illegals, an increasing drug and smuggling trade, and virtually nothing being done by the federal government, Arizona has taken the right step.

Obama has had a fit because illegal immigrant are a big part of his base of the entitlement class, and if they aren’t here, they can’t support him.

What do you think?

Our local rag, the biggest in the state of course, has a history of publishing hand-wringing sob stories in support of liberal causes intended to provoke guilt, but this takes the cake:

Arianda Miranda leaned against the door frame and started to sob.

Her husband hasn't found steady work in a year.  Then, on Friday, Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer signed the tough anti-illegal-immigration law that will allow police to arrest illegal immigrants like her.  It was the last straw.  After seven years in Arizona, the family was moving.

"Yesterday, we sold our trailer," Miranda, 38, said between sobs.  "We don't know exactly where.  Another state."

Miranda is not alone.  More than 100,000 undocumented immigrants have left Arizona in the past two years because of the bad economy and earlier enforcement crackdowns.  Now, a new wave of Latinos is preparing to leave.  And it isn't just illegal immigrants:...

That's the opening of the front-page above-the-fold lead story today.  Written without a hint of irony.  And without a clue.

Daiwa, apparently the law is already working.

It doesn't even take effect until 90 days after the current legislative session ends.  We're gonna find out whether this country is a nation of laws long before then, however, if the Sharptons of the world have their way.  The race-hustling intimidation warriors have just found new blood to suck.  The lamestream media are thrilled at the prospects.  You can bet the farm, and your neighbor's farm, that the May Day 'demonstrations' will get the breathless build-up and full-court press coverage that the Tea Party rallies have been denied.  It's just in their DNA.

Seems to me the legislation will allow policemen to do this to people other than those who are arrested.

It is against the law to not have identification on you. If you are stopped even walking on the street you can be arrested for not having ID. Once you produce ID the police verify that ID and send you on your way. If you are wanted for any reason they take you in. IF you are illegally in the country you are supposed to be arrested and turned over to immigration. That is and has been the law for most of my life. Now however, it seems that obeying that law is bad. Cities don't enforce that law, well, some cities don't enforce that law and say they are progressive for it. If the City breaks its own laws and federal law as well, we should stop sending federal money to those states and cities. The legislation you speak of just enforces laws already on the books, please explain how this is a bad thing?

But there ain't any danger related to the activity of... well, you know, being. Can a policemen simply ask me for my paper while walking down the streets?

Yes, they can! If I rob a bank and don't use a car does that mean that police can not ask me for ID? How is a policeman to enforce the law if they can't question a person? If you don't carry ID you can be arrested for vagrancy by law you have to show a means of support and an address. That law is in every state, and has been since the 1930's so it is not a new law or picking on one group or another. Once again the Arizona law is only enforcing laws already on the books.

Don't confuse the race baiters with the facts! It makes them flustered.

Sorry Doc, I tend to confuse the issue with fact and logic. My bad.

I would simply like to hear a decent solution of how to catch a criminal (because breaking a law makes you a criminal technically) that can only be found if questioned without inconveniencing the innocent.

This is simple and easy. Make a new law that says that all people breaking the law must turn themselves into the police. That way no one will have to be questioned and only the guilty will be bothered.

I heard a comment on the local radio news show today from the Mayor of San Jose.  He was ecstatic over the Arizona boycott because, in his words, they could not compete with the low taxes of Arizona when it came to convention business!!!

So the truth is out.  It is not about the law or justice.  It is all about how to tax you more and get away with it because they are removing your CHOICES.

The liberals and media (same thing) are going all out on this one, so many lies.

I wrote this on my personal blog, but here it is.

“Show us your papers” is what some are calling it in reference to the old Soviet Union, but that is really false.

Here is what the law actually says:

For any lawful contact made by a law enforcement official or a law enforcement agency of this state or a county, city, town or other political subdivision of this state where reasonable suspicion exists that the person is an alien who is unlawfully present in the United States, a reasonable attempt shall be made, when practicable, to determine the immigration status of the person.”

Notice “for any lawful contact”.

Police just can’t stop you off the street to ask for your “papers”, that is a lie being told by the left and the media.  What the law does is gives police the right to ask for proof of citizenship when lawful contact is made.  What does that mean?  Well for example, if someone is reported as a suspicious person and the officer makes contact with them, this is when they can ask for citizenship.  It’s basically the same way as they would when asking for ID to run a background/wanted check.

Now that the falsehoods have been outed, take a moment and realize why over 70% of Arizona’s population support this bill.

The amount of violence from illegals is at the breaking point.  Over 80% of murder warrants are issued for illegal immigrants.  Smuggling of drugs and other illegal goods are at unprecedented levels, which end up in the streets and in schools that your children attend.  Take another moment and think about that.

If the federal government would have taken care of border security seriously, this bill wouldn’t be needed.

Being a bit naive ID?  Truth never matter to the race baiters and hate hucksters.  Lies work better for them so they will continue to spread the lies.

Almost everyone here is completely missing the point.

This is one of the very worst stupid political strategic moves the Republicans (in general) can make prior to the coming elections and the Democrats are quickly maneuvering to capitalize on it.  Illegals do vote, illegally.  This is why the media is misreporting and going nuts over the story in an attempt to fan the flames and label all Republicans as against the illegal immigrant community.  A common Democrat strategy is to divide and conquer by class and race but ultimately not helping either.  The better decision would be to push any state immigration reform legislation after the election to avoid any further long term damage.

DO NOT BE SURPRISED IF THIS LEADS TO RETAINING THE D. MAJORITY NEXT ELECTION.

I doubt it only because this bill does something this Administration fails to do to often, tackle an issue and pass a solution for it, Rasmussen's poll shows how people like this. In the end to follow your concept would be to continue with politics as usual and this is something we need to step away from for once. It's time for politicians to stand up for what they believe in rather than pander to people just to win votes. If you gonna get ousted, do it for what you believe in not lies and deceptions.

This is suppose to be a fight for the American people not for the next Senate seat.

There have been several politicians from multiple states (outside of AZ) calling for a boycott of all businesses and products from Arizona.

Isn't this against the state commerce laws?

Oh there I go with that constitution thingy again?

You raise a good point (and makes my cynic proud of you).  However, with 70% of Arizona, and similar majorities in other states backing the law (after actually reading it), not even Richard Daley can raise that many corpses (Amadinijad could, but then he is half way around the world).

Besides, while that may be the democrats plan, the Illegals are not stupid.  They are not going to go someplace where they KNOW they will be carded.  Most really do want to live here and just earn a living and stay out of trouble.  So the republicans are not really losing anything.  The Media and the democrats are.

No, Boycotts are legal.  The commerce clause forces you to allow trade.  it does not force you to buy things.  Your state law forces that - competitive bidding (and so Newsome may be in trouble with California law, but not federal).

The major question that needs to be asked here is, if it wasn't for the lies propagated by the incompetent press, would this law even be contraversial?

Is any part of the hysteria actually based on fact?

on Apr 30, 2010

No, and No.

Should be an interesting day tomorrow.
