Every day I visit tons of website, forums, and social networks for all types of topics, most of which are technology based in some sort of form.  This election cycle has really brought out the best of the liberal “group think” mentality regarding Obama.  On just about every social network Obama is praised as “the one” and any hint of disagreement with his policies or ideals is immediately responded with accusations of racism, or just plain insults.  Anybody who wants to claim that liberals are tolerant to others, please give me a shout because I can quickly debunk that.  Even here on our network of sites, there have been insults tossed at the slightest hint of either supporting McCain, or being against Obama.  I’m certainly not saying conservatives don’t dish out their fair share, but the mentality of liberals has once again bordered on the insane and hateful.

It’s tough being a proud conservative, as I will say what I think regardless of what the group and mob mentality is.  The real shame is so many people, especially bloggers in the tech area, are afraid to do the same.  I have received so many private notes and comments in support of standing up for conservatism, it’s almost crazy.  The best comparison I can make is how conservative actors in Hollywood are often ridiculed or turned down for roles because of their conservative beliefs, and the same mentality is going on right now in the blogosphere.  Conservative bloggers, some of which can be considered A-list are having to remain silent about their thoughts on Obama and McCain, simply because they are afraid of retribution from their employers or just not being able to pickup work from other sites.  It’s a shame, and it’s more telling about liberals than it is anything.

I am a conservative, I don’t like Obama, and I will never let anyone intimidate me because of that.

Man, you crack me up!

I'm glad I can help you laugh at yourself.  It's very healthy.

Carter, damn, he just about decimated the military, and I know what I'am talking about as I was there.

Yup, Vietnam was over.  Time to ramp down.  Normal ebb and flow.

on Oct 31, 2008

that's just it, steve. you READ about it! i LIVED it! you talking like you know anything at all about what it was like under the Carter administration is like me talking about life under the Grover Cleveland Alexander administration. unless you lived it and can speak of it with actual knowledge, shut up! oh, and by the way, half the stuff Reagan took credit for in his first term (especially in the military field) was started while Carter was in office.

Your logic is flawed, people hold opinions about Ben Franklin, George Washington, Abe Lincoln and so on, and by your logic they shouldn't because they hadn't been alive in that Era?

Maybe you need to accept the fact that not everyone believes Carter actually did anything as President other than wasting the air we all breath. It doesn't matter weither you've been alive durring his Presidency or not, everyone has access to what he did and what he said durring his time as the President. And from what IVE READ hes done, its a pretty short list.

Well, he lied about Rev. Wright, if you believe he never heard that type of sermon in 20 years, I feel sorry for you. He lied about his associations with ayers, wasn't just " a guy in the neighborhood " If you believe that, I feel sorry for you. He lied about his tax cut threshhold, was 250k, then 200k, then Biden sad.. 150K..NOW.. Bill Richardson saying 120k! Middle class is getting smaller and smaller and smaller... HUGE lie.

He lied about his decision on public financing.

He's lied about what he is going to deliver, it is mathematically impossible.

The entire campaign.. imo.. has been a series of denials of the obvious, minimizations, hollywood marketing and smoke and mirrors. the ONLY reason he is in a position to win is because many people believe what they hear and don't hear from a media that has been contaminated with corruption and bias.   The drive by networks should be ashamed of the mockery they have become.

RIP Journalism in 2008

Secondly, becase millions of people would rather have a hand out than work hard to achieve success like their fathers and grandfathers.

Lord help us if the biggest scam in the history of the US comes to fruition.

Dems voted for the war due to the lies told by Bush & Co.

If anyone would believe what Bush & Co. would say it's not the Dems in the government so that theory is way out in left field.

They "Dems" along with the Republicans believed the 'Intelligence' reports from several countries which indicated that Saddam had WMD's.

'Intelligence' is this case is more a misnomer.

Your also forgetting the fact that according to his own grandmother he was born in Kenya, and his apparent Birth Certificate is a quick hackjob of his sisters. Forget about all the BS he's been feeding to everyone, he isn't even qualified to run for President, let alone be one.

What a bunch of Chicken Littles.  The sky is falling a Democrat might be elected president.  It's the end of the world.

Are you going to give a man shit for NOT taking tax dollars from the taxpayers to pay for his campaign?!!! He wound up getting more donations than he needed and so he's spending donations (mostly $100 or less!) on his campaign instead of the tax dollars we oh so need right now.

I APPLAUD him for that. You should too, ESPECIALLY if you are a fiscal conservative. Or did you want him to take taxpayer money on top of his donations, just because he could have?!

That is not how it works.

The Presidential public finance system allows qualified presidential candidates to receive matching funds for small donations in exchange for agreeing to a spending limit during their primary campaign, and for the parties' nominees it provides a block grant to pay for their entire general election campaign as long as they receive no private contributions after the conventions.

They would each have the same size grant available after the conventions and that was the whole point of public financing, to reduce the chances of anyone "buying" the election.

Obama did promise in writing to take the public fimancing and later broke that prmise when he found out how much money he was able to raise on his own.

It is well established that he did infact break his promise as referenced below from a reasonably liberal source.

What a bunch of Chicken Littles. The sky is falling a Democrat might be elected president. It's the end of the world.

Is that all you have to contribute to this discussion? I know it's hard not to fall into that typical liberal stereotype but come on now, you can do a little bit better? Rather than doing nothing at all in the conversation except throwing handfull's of your own feces at people who disagree with you why don't you try and use facts to disprove what someone has been saying?

On second thought.. it's kind of hard to refute what I've said when Obama's own grandmother acknowledges it. You know, the lady that helped raise him to which he often praises in his sunshine filled speaches?

I honestly don't know why I keep reading this thread as people post in it, even people twice as old as me act as if they have the maturity level of someone half my age.

Honestly, party association doesnt bother me, I cant even vote, I can however see right through lies when I hear them.. so.. Dem, Rep.. I'm going to support the person with better character.

In this case... beyond a doubt, its John McCain.

(mostly $100 or less!)

Which conveniently he doesnt need to provide proof of donor for....very slick.

Break out the snake oil.

Oh gee how provocative Steve- the troll said quit throwing handfuls of what???  Apply your words to yourself.  I've seen many posts which greatly exagerate this thing or that thing or some other thing.  I think my post had plenty of meaning.  Bunch of Chicken Littles.

Links please. And NOT from right wing hack blogs, entertainment sites, or 527s thanks. I don't quote the Huffington Post or the Drudge Report anymore than the National Enquirer.

This is how they try to avoid the lies that 0bama surrounds himself with.  Go search, it's not hard to find.  Jeesh....they always want someone else to do the work for them.

Just to amuse myself though:

  • Lied about public financing.
  • Lied about his relationship with Bill Ayers.  Said he was a "guy in the neighborhood".  Turns out he has a significant past with Ayers that is still being revealed today.
  • Lied about Wright.
  • He lies about his relations with other shady associations (Rezco, etc)
  • He leaves about big parts of his past, and still can't figure out who paid for his college.
  • Lied about the reasons McCain doesn't use a computer.
  • Lied about his relationship with lobbyists, especially ones who helped his wife.
  • Lied about himself knowing the U.S. has 50 states.
  • Lied about meeting dictators without preconditions.
  • He lies about his stance on gun control.  He is one of the anti-legislators there is.
  • Too many lies to list about his tax plans.
  • Lied about his associations with ACORN.

Once again, he makes the Clintons look honest.  Read up on the "real" Obama and you might be surprised what you learn.

It really is painful to watch him give a speech once you see the true side of things isn't it? The fact that people are not only buying into what he says but sticking up for him when he is accused of something is pretty saddening if you ask me.

Lets not forget the shady campaign donations 0bama is using.  The money that was taken from the brothers in the Gaza strip, the thousands of dollars being accepted, and not checking on the donors.
