Every day I visit tons of website, forums, and social networks for all types of topics, most of which are technology based in some sort of form.  This election cycle has really brought out the best of the liberal “group think” mentality regarding Obama.  On just about every social network Obama is praised as “the one” and any hint of disagreement with his policies or ideals is immediately responded with accusations of racism, or just plain insults.  Anybody who wants to claim that liberals are tolerant to others, please give me a shout because I can quickly debunk that.  Even here on our network of sites, there have been insults tossed at the slightest hint of either supporting McCain, or being against Obama.  I’m certainly not saying conservatives don’t dish out their fair share, but the mentality of liberals has once again bordered on the insane and hateful.

It’s tough being a proud conservative, as I will say what I think regardless of what the group and mob mentality is.  The real shame is so many people, especially bloggers in the tech area, are afraid to do the same.  I have received so many private notes and comments in support of standing up for conservatism, it’s almost crazy.  The best comparison I can make is how conservative actors in Hollywood are often ridiculed or turned down for roles because of their conservative beliefs, and the same mentality is going on right now in the blogosphere.  Conservative bloggers, some of which can be considered A-list are having to remain silent about their thoughts on Obama and McCain, simply because they are afraid of retribution from their employers or just not being able to pickup work from other sites.  It’s a shame, and it’s more telling about liberals than it is anything.

I am a conservative, I don’t like Obama, and I will never let anyone intimidate me because of that.

You obviously don't , because this line of discussion STARTED when someone posted an email comparing American casualties in Iraq withe the murder rate in Chicago. Comprehension isn't your strong suit. How about you come back after you reread the thread?

Better re-read it.  That was where the thread started, but hardly where it was at when you made your comment.

Or is FDR Still YOUR president?

Now you want to post a point? Or continue to flunk reading 101.

on Oct 31, 2008

Yah , Bush Senior.

I am sorry.  I now see that reading comprehension is your problem.

You might try again.  Say 93-2001?

Well we have made it to 15 pages, and for the most part it has remained civil, but many of the points I have made were validated in some form or another in this thread.

Yes, it is true.  You are being left behind by progress...as all conservatives eventually always are.

Seriously, we "liberals" are just fighting back, finally, against the group unthink that has dominated American politics recently.

We've been lied to, and we know it.

We've been ripped off, and we know it.

We've seen the will of the people overturned, stolen, and defrauded, and we know it.

And we know who's responsible and who their friends are and we won't be voting for them ever again.

The pendulum is swinging back.  You, as a conservative, can look forward to the return of the Constitutional guarantees of our forefathers, the return of proper regulation and oversight over financial institutions, the end of state sponsored torture, and return of habeus corpus, and a guarantee that your health care will exist in between your jobs, despite pre-existing conditions, and no matter how old you are fortunate to live to.

Not a bad position to be in for losing an election.  You're welcome.

Notice how he accuses you of dodging the point, while all he is doing is...dodging the point?  Classic spin tactic.

When you can't answer the question, talk about something else.

When you've been proven wrong, deny, deny, deny.

When you're losing a debate, just keep badgering the opponent in the hopes he will lose his cool or quit.

We're all waiting to hear your next cogent, well thought-out rebuttal.  Or will it just be more middle school taunts?

unless you lived it and can speak of it with actual knowledge, shut up! oh, and by the way, half the stuff Reagan took credit for in his first term (especially in the military field) was started while Carter was in office.

Take your own medicine.  Carter is still regarded as the worst president in my lifetime, and probably will rank up there with Harding and Grant as THE worst.  Reagan did not take credit for anything Carter did, because Carter didnot do ANYTHING!

And yea, baby!  I was there. For the whole sordid mess.  LIke I thought I was Soooo lucky to get a mortgage at 12.5% - when every one else was getting it for 16%+.

What a guy!

Actually, history has already proven me right on all these points.

Uh, no.  DO you know what history is?  It is not today (that is a clue for you).  But I can see you were too busy demonstrating about peace than learning while you were in school.  NO wonder Johnny cant read.

And uh, as I said, try real links, not Wiki ones.  There is a reason it is called Wiki - and not Britanica.

DO you know how to tell the truth? Apparently not.

I just posted the facts, with citations, earlier in the thread.  I will assume you were in such a hurry to post that you missed it.

Please refer to that and feel free to provide authoritative substantiation for your counter position.  I look forward to your rebuttal arguments.

If you ever felt in some way intimidated or afraid to express your political opinions, I.D. please let me be first in line to eschew that and I do not care about which political view you espouse.

civility means "Listen respectfully and answer the same way."
Unless your talking about Sarah Palin, ain't that right Sawbones?

My views on Sarah Palin are that she was dropped into the race unprepared and not qualified (for many reasons) to be in direct succession to the Presidency, or even to be Governor of Alaska. I did so in regular English and in Pyratese parodying her and I do not apologize for that. Keep the inappropriate "sawbones" to yourself until you acheve my Academic achievements.

I agree with so much of what you've posted here, but I'm haunted by the fact that it isn't the popular vote that counts in this country.  I live in the state of Florida.  I know what happened in 2000, and Diebold Election Systems, Inc., didn't dissolve, it just changed it's name to Primier Election Solutions.  Presidents are elected by the electoral college, and I believe it was Stalin who made the accurate statement, ""It's not who votes that counts, but who counts the votes."  I truly fear what's going to happen the morning after election day.

The wiki selection I chose left the actual links and footnotes in.  Those are from the actual authoritative sources.

What point?  Where have you asked a question taht I am supposed to be dodging?  No where yet.  No spin here.  Except on your side.  DO you even have a point?  SO far I have seen none, just uninformed ramblings.

And hint: Thread reading 101.  That was not your comment I was commenting on. so how can I be dodging you?  Unless you have an ego the size of Obama's.

Same here.
