We are happy to announce the first free MyColors subscriber theme for Object Desktop subscribers.  This is the first of four and this first one is the MyColors Gloss Burgundy theme.

To install your free theme, download and install Impulse. The free theme will appear on the MyDesktop tab automatically (it has already been added to your account). Download Impulse here.  If you are not an Object Desktop subscriber, you can find more information at www.objectdesktop.com.

How can I download the burgandy theme without buying objectdock or impulse. I did buy Mycolors - and checked the themes and it doesn't show that theme available yet. I would even pay for it. Any suggestions??

Can someone explain the supposed encrypted skins to me? Maybe I'm dense, but I realize the file has an extension of .MyColors, but I'm able to extract everything from it without even launching the MyColors app

Yep, but did you look into the camouflage WindowBlinds folder how Images are ?

lynnyf, impulse if free. it's part of object desktop. this suite is a freebie for object desktop subscribers, not objectdock owners. you didn't buy mycolors since it is also a free app. you may have purchased another mycolors suite which installed the mycolors app, tho.

Excellent theme, problem loading the weather widget though. Weather widget for think green works fine, burgundy states unable to determine version of stardock weather ocx.

Question about encripted skins, this one in mind...is it possible to hide the user pic with SS6 or will corrupt the images when I save it?

Why don't I see this in Impulse? I'm an OD subscriber....

personally just hate the MyColors system, and above all if all MyColors theme (even free) have WindowBlinds encrypted images, whatever quality are the skins, I just don't care because i can't do ports for my own use (and/or for others ...) and Stardock can keep them ...

This is a policy that is in the process of changing.

A little background first:

When we launched MyColors, the initial content came via licensed properties (NBA, NHL, NCAA, etc.) so we had to encrypt them to satisfy the IP holders.  At the time, it was quicker to simply have MyColors only support this one format.

We've been working on making it so that MyColors themes can support unencrypted content as well but that's taking longer.  So the plan going forward is to simply provide a ZIP file as part of your email (i.e. enter your email into the support.stardock.com website and it'll email you links to ZIP files as well as the MyColors themes).

Anyway, the intent with the encryption wasn't to prevent people from making ports but to protect licensed IP.  But a lot of our best stuff is stuff we came up with and hence we can distribute however we choose.

...and that's fair enough. Don't want lawyers crawling all over you.

That should please quite a few folks

When I first applied this theme, my live folder icons were a mixture of aquamarine and gloss burgundy. The fronts were aquamarine and the back and middle parts were burgundy. I could not get that configuration to change. Using IP, I changed to the default Vista icons, but the fronts were still aquamarine. I clicked repair icons, rebuild cache...all that stuff, with reboots thrown in for good measure. This was only for sizes larger than "details" in explorer. Finally I re-applied the burgundy theme in mycolors and now all icons appear to be displaying correctly. Could you please, PLEASE, stop MyColors from unsetting the WB setting "show icon in system tray". That's frustrating. Thanks and really sweet theme!!! werewolf

Good news, and simple way to let us have the unencrypted WB
Is it already in service ? and what's exactly the direct link to the support.stardock.com website ?

OK....Update to my previous problem. Reinstalled MyColors as per Shelby's help and everything does work fine now....the problem was lack instructions regarding the explorer icons. The skins are very nice and cool looking. But....even though I understand why this encryption method (Thanks hackers!) has been implemented...I'm not real thrilled with it....mainly because it cramps my hobby....can't skin what I can't see.
But for those of you that do not skin...MyColors does seem work fine once you've been given the proper instructions.

There is a severe problem with this skin's start menu design on Vista. I have my taskbar on the top of my screen. When I click the Start button, the User Picture appears RIGHT on top of the start button and is clicked, forcing me to open the User Accounts section of the Control panel. Please move the user icon to the right hand side of the start panel.
