This is a new kind of 4X. In traditional strategy game terms, the bad guy has already won – civilization lies in ruins, and twisted monsters roam freely through the scattered wreckage. Not satisfied with his victory, though, the evil Sorcerer King is bent on destroying the world in his quest to become a god himself. We invite you to explore Sorcerer King’s unique asymmetrical design, and give us your feedback here so that we can make this the best game it can be when it ...

GamesBeat visited Stardock not too long ago, and their excellent article on the recent history of Stardock along with a glimpse of what's ahead is up now. "Stardock Entertainment is girding itself for battle with the genre that nearly destroyed the company: fantasy strategy. The developer’s first attempt was Elemental, starting in 2010 after seven years of success with the Galactic Civilizations 4X (“eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, and eXterminate”) space strategy ...

LightStar has released a new Master WindowBlinds skin called Dark Realm.  As the name suggests, this is a darker skin but it’s designed in a way that it’s great for daily use and I really enjoyed trying this out.  You can grab this now, and it’s compatible with Windows 8 and Windows 7.  WinCustomize Subscribers get a 20% discount on Master skins. Sometime today the Windows Insider Program will launch and people will be able to download the Windows 10 Technical Preview. Windows Insider Program:  http://preview.windows.com/ It should be noted that this is a Technical Preview and should not be installed for use as your main operating system.  If you aren't familiar with any of this, I'd advise just waiting until next year when it fully released.

I just got a new ioSafe 214 and figured now was a good time to reevaluate how I organize and backup my data.  I have a good hardware and cloud backup solution, but organizing the data is always what gives me trouble.  It’s more of me trying to be a perfectionist than anything else, and I try to keep it rather simple.  I really don’t have a lot of backup as far as different kinds of data.  The biggest is my photo collection, then music, then other data like work an...

Stardock’s Derek Paxton gives reaction to the new Steam Discovery tools to Gamasutra. "Stardock's Derek Paxton isn't completely sold on the new storefront, although he does appreciate that Valve is looking for new and effective ways to curate games on the platform. He notes that the Top Seller tab isn't as useful as it was before the update. Galactic Civilizations III is currently on sale on Steam, and while 45 percent of pageviews are coming from the Specia...

Fall is here and just a few more months of 2014 are left.  I was just looking through Steam and Amazon and there are a bunch of upcoming releases during this time, and really way too many for me.   Just some as an example: Far Cry 4 Assassin's Creed Unity Civilizations: Beyond Earth Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel Alien: Isolation There's plenty more not counting some great games that have been released recently.  Are any of these some must-haves, or have you pr...

It's been a while since we had a contest, and I thought it would be fun to put a quick one together for Halloween.  Halloween has always brought up some fun and unique skins, and people always seem to ask for new ones each year.   See Halloween skins on WinCustomize. This is just a quick, fun contest that is open to anyone and can be any skin, theme, wallpaper, etc. that is accepted on WinCustomize.  The only real requirement is it needs to have a Halloween theme to i...
