Shortly after the release of Windows Vista last year, Stardock introduced DeskScapes to users of Windows Vista Ultimate which added featured like dynamic .dreams, triggered .dreams, etc. We also launched Dream.WinCustomize.Com which is the official site to find more animated wallpapers (.dreams) for use with DeskScapes. Later, we launched DeskScapes 2.0 which brought the ability for nearly all Vista users to have animated wallpapers on their desktops. However, the one commen...

Yesterday was the last day of my trip to Stardock HQ. It was a very productive day with a few meetings, and I’m happy to say that Zoomba and myself have nailed down the final plans for the GUI Champs ‘08, and a more “official” announcement will be posted in just a few days. While I missed my family, I was a bit sad to leave because I was having a great time and it was just awesome to get to know people better than I have in the last couple of years. I also have a lot of...
ShackNews has a two-part interview with Stardock CEO, Brad Wardell. The first part talks about the plan to “revitalize” PC gaming. It also covers Stardock's stance on copy-protection. A quick excerpt: " Shack: A lot of people think the solution is making games that are so connected with the online experience that everything is validated online, patched online, controlled through the internet. But what you're talking about is an offline, almost traditional solution...
Yesterday I posted the first part of the interview with Stardock CEO Brad Wardell by ShackNews. Part 2 of the interview goes into Stardock’s appearance at PAX ‘08, the upcoming game Demigod , and the upcoming turn-based fantasy strategy game that Stardock is currently working on. Another quick excerpt: “ Shack : How was your time at PAX? Brad Wardell : It was great. That was so fun. Because we were out there and we had the Gas Powered Games guys [Supreme...

Today, several of us took a nice walk for lunch, and we stopped over a decent sized pond. The first thing Brad spotted was this Snapping turtle that looks like it has been there for many years. It was different for me as usually an alligator would be more common than that. I was able to grab a quick picture before it took off.
Well Day 2 was my first full day at Stardock, and let me first start off by saying the weather is just fantastic. I think it was around 60 degrees when I left the hotel this morning, and it felt really good. I got my own little cubicle to work out of, which is weird to me to be in an office with other people, but I enjoyed having people around. Here’s me at my space catching up on some WinCustomize moderation. Just about right next to me we have Zoomba peeking ove...
I really enjoy seeing new skins come through for RightClick. There are so many things you can do with your desktop just by using RightClick. If you are a super-minimalist you could hide the taskbar on the Windows desktop and just use RightClick all by itself. You can add DesktopX widgets as well, and it’s very configurable to get it setup just the way you want it. Hard to believe, but RightClick has been out a couple of years now, so I wanted to go back to the start and take...

We have been getting a lot of submissions to the .dream gallery on WinCustomize. Dream files are animated wallpapers that can be used on virtually any version of Windows Vista using Stardock DeskScapes . There is a free preview version available that will run several of the included bundled .dreams, and the full version will run all the .dreams found in the galleries. Here are a few pick from the past few days. ,
Well today I managed to get myself up and on to an airplane which took me to Detroit earlier today. The flight wasn’t too bad actually, and I managed to get in a bit of rest. I had a window seat, and the weather was great most of the way there. I was able to get some great shots out of the window. First stop was to Stardock HQ where I finally got to meet Brad (Frogboy) in person. I met almost everyone including CariElf, mittens, Boog...
Monday is here again. What makes today even better is I have to do one of my least favorite things today….get on a plane. While I nervously await that time, here are some of my favorite picks from the weekend.
I’m taking a trip to Michigan tomorrow to the Stardock HQ for a few days. I thought it would be fun to blog my trip and give people a bit of an inside look at some things we will be planning, at least the stuff we can talk about in public. I guess you could think of it as a “behind the scenes” thing, so I hope it will interest you. Hopefully I can get some really cool pictures and stuff to post while I am there this week. I have no problem in admitting I don’t like to fly,...
