A few weeks ago we announced the one millionth Impulse customer had been reached, and that lucky person will receive a high-end gaming rig, along with other cool goodies from Stardock such as copies of games such as Demigod, Gal Civ II, and Sins of a Solar Empire. The winner was James from Illinois, and I certainly am jealous at the PC he is getting. Case: Ikonik RA-X10 Full Tower Processor: Intel Core i7-965 Extreme Edition 3.2 GHz RAM: 12 GB DDR3/1600 MHz...
This WinCustomize Member Spotlight goes to a member who has been around since July of 2004, and has since made a bunch of contributions to the skin galleries. Today, we spotlight ‘Apprentice’ DEVJIT. DEVJIT has been cranking out the wallpapers lately, along with matching logons and bootskins. His wallpaper gallery is great because he goes with several different styles of images, not relying on one type. Check out DEVJIT’s WC personal site for more info and links to his works....
This is just cool, way cool! Adrian , who is part of the team over at Neoseeker.com has created a LEGO version of Demigod’s ‘Rook’. Adrian is also part of the Vancouver LEGO club, where I’m sure the Rook will be the envy of the club.
One of the newest skinning groups to come out of the skinning community is Skindex, which made an appearance at the 2008 GUI Championships where they took 2nd place in team ranking in the competition. They have recently finished up the ‘Broken Aero’ skin suite with a ton of skins included. It’s a fantastic suite, and there is enough for a complete desktop transformation. Check out all the skins here .
Firingsquad.com is the latest place to find a review of Demigod, and Firingsquad has a great in-depth review posted today. They also give Demigod a score of 84%! “Demigod scores quite a few points for having really addictive gameplay that is both strategic and fun, yet also allows you to customize your character throughout matches. Battles are fast and furious, but you never feel overwhelmed or pulled in too many directions at once. We loved the unique characters and abiliti...
Next up in Demigod reviews, we have GameFocus.ca which gives Demigod an Editors Choice with a 9. 2 rating! “Demigod is one of those games which surprised the hell out of me in many ways. From the overall presentation, the graphics and audio and the very fun and addictive gameplay, Demigod is one of the best PC games this year and is a shining example of how great game developers can continue to evolve old ideas into bigger and better games. This is a must buy for strategy fans loo...
AtomicGamer has published their review of Demigod, and give it an overall score of 89%! “For a fan of Supreme Commander or other traditional RTS titles, Demigod's a pretty big difference. As an Assassin character, you only actually control your one unit, fighting off enemy troops, trying to take out their Demigods, leveling up, increasing your attributes, gaining new abilities with a large tree of interesting choices, and using the money you gain from several sources (including getting...
Monday is here once again, and you know it’s time for the usual weekly feature showcasing skins that came in to WinCustomize over the past couple of days. Good stuff as always!
I was taking a drive today, and I was looking at a bunch of retail-type businesses that have closed down, or are just not getting any business. Now you will have some that will say it's all the fault of the economy, but I disagree on some of it. What's really the point of smaller businesses that don't offer anything special or different than any other? Aside from the grocery store, and some items at a store like Target, I don't have a need to visit other retailers. Pretty mu...
The folks over at Crispy Gamer have published their review of Demigod, and gives it a ‘Buy It’! “Demigod offers a slight variation on the Defense of the Ancients model. Those who aren't interested in Warcraft lore, but like the mod's style of gameplay, should find Demigod a refreshing break from DotA. Stardock's Impulse content delivery should make it easy to deliver new demigods and new multiplayer maps to keep gamers interested after the initial luster has worn off...
GameBizBlog has an interview with Brad Wardell. This interview covers a variety of topics, but the main focus is game piracy. A definite read. Brad Wardell, CEO of Stardock: We know that piracy exists in massive levels. We don't put any copy protection on our retail CDs. We do know, because our games connect to our servers, how many people are playing the pirated version. It's huge. I mean HUGE. Demigod may be the most popular game in a very long time based on the ...
Voodoo Extreme has the latest Demigod Origins short story up. This time, we look into the origins of Sedna. There are those in a society who are humble and kind, and for whom the needs of others are considered before their own. Such was the case of the one they called Sedna. Born into humble beginnings as part of a small nomadic tribe on the furthest outskirts of civilized society, she rose to great power through her generosity. Even as a child, Sedna showed extraordina...
Going through some statistics this morning, I saw a nice mix of old and new skins that were popular today on WinCustomize. Here’s a quick look.
What a week this has been! I’m certainly glad it’s Friday, and writing TWiS this week I was able to catch up on skins that I didn’t even see come through. The best part is that I can share them with you too!
