I got an e-mail tonight that I wanted to share with our artists here on WC. It seems DAZ is giving away 3 of their 3D applications for free until the end of the month. Bryce Pro 7 DAZ Studio Pro Hexagon http://www.daz3d.com/i/3d/free-3d-software-overview?home_5_btn=start I haven't had the chance to fully check it out, so let me know if it goes through.
I got my new SSD drive installed and spent the last couple of days installing a clean build of Windows, and installing apps to the SSD and data drives. I was a bit concerned 64GB would be tight, but I installed Windows 7, Lightroom, Office 2010, and a bunch of other apps and still have about 30GB left. It is by far the best upgrade I have made to my PC, and I am still surprised at how fast it is now. I also took apart my Windows Home Server box and took the 1TB drive out of th...

PC Gamer has some new screenshots up for Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion showing off some of the Titan class battleships. "The expansion will also add jumbo sized battlecraft called Titans. These monsters will be even bigger than capital ships and will be able to take on enemy fleets single-handedly. They’ll get to dissolve incoming pirate raids with new giant laser beams, prettified by a new lighting engine. See Titans and their pet lasers in action in these new screenshots." ...
The other day I wrote a guide on how to purchase using the in-app functionality , and today I wanted to follow-up with another quick guide on how to activate purchases made. If you purchased an additional feature for Stardock Tiles, or have Tiles as part of the Object Desktop suite, you might need to activate your existing purchase/features. Open the Tiles configuration window and navigate down to the ‘Add features” area. Then click Activate existing purchases button.

When the program is inactive, it appears as an icon. When it is active, it appears as a live preview tile. Although it’s a free app there is an enhanced version available as well. You can u...

I finally took the plunge and bought my first SSD this morning. My main PC is several years old, but it still handles pretty much everything including new PC games without any problems. I don’t see a need for a full system upgrade at this time, but I figured an SSD would make a worthy upgrade especially with Windows 8 around the corner. I picked up a 64GB as that will be enough to have Windows on it, plus a few apps and the rest will go to a regular hard drive. At $79 this ...
GameSpy has published their exclusive review with Stardock’s Brian Clair (Yarlen) about the upcoming Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion! GameSpy: So you're dividing the existing three factions -- the TEC, the Advent, and the Vasari -- into a Loyalist and a Rebel faction each. How is playing as a Rebel faction going to differ from playing as a Loyalist faction? Brian Clair: Well, it depends on which race you play. The TEC Loyalists are very defensive. If you're a ...
