I think you may have misunderstood the list of updates.

It says UIS0 explorer background fix. This is specific to UIS0 skins where some backgrounds would turn funny colours.

@wizard1056

Thanks for the link .. for passing it to RND to pass to me

@ Joelore: If you have a current subscription to WB or to ODNT do the following:

1. Open Impulse. Un-check "show prerelease versions" in the blue rectangular button. Close Impulse.

2. Reopen Impulse, "Shift + Right click" on WB7 in Impulse and choose "Verify Installation". Let it Run. It will tell you it isn't installed correctly.

3. Download and install the update. Reboot.

You're back to a fully fuctional WB.

Well it may not have been ignored but it has been an on going problem for the is beta in A B C and D now E, versions of this update. However the perception exists that it may well be a very low priority item to fix. We all know that MS excel is not a widely used program by the masses

Unfortunately, as far as I can tell, the previous beta update which fixed the Thunderbird 5.0 problem cannot be downloaded and it worked well.  I tried to restore it via Impulse but on my Win7 x64 machine, Impulse can no longer restore archives.  To get my machine working again, as I often do, I uninstalled all Stardock Software, cleaned the registery, cleared the hard drive of all Stardock products and then reinstalled everything after numerous attempts to fix it including using the Stardock Store Downloads.  It's all working again minus the Thunderbird fix from the previous beta.

After ten years or so of using Stardock Software this ain't unusual.  I go through periods when I get so pissed off I uninstall everything and do without it for months but I always come back because I get bored with Windows.

DrJBHL,

Thank you very, very much!!!!! Did exactly as you said and the WB was NOT installed correctly. Unchecked "pre-releases", restarted then updated; the beta is now gone replaced by 7.0 and WB is fully functional again even at reboot.

Great forum here!!!

Glad to have helped.

Maybe I have not done enough reading or maybe I am just missing something. I had uninstalled impulse a while ago because I thought it no longer worked after being sold. I read post here that people are still using it to verify installations and update. So out of curiosity I downloaded impulse again and checked my software.

Here is where it gets interesting. I verified wb and it came up that I needed an update ( show prerelease versions unchecked). I clicked to update and I get a message saying my OD subscription had expired. Well that is certainly not true because I renewed it just a couple months ago.

What I don't understand is why is impulse telling me I need to update when I downloaded the latest version from the stardock store? (not the beta) and why is it telling me my OD has expired? Am I missing something. I just assumed if you had downloaded from the store it is the updated software, not according to impulse though.

Can someone explain whats going on here or point me to the thread that does.

Thanks

Just for clarity JC, did Impulse tell you WB needed an update, or that it wasn't installed correctly? Verifying install usually tells you whether or not it is installed correctly. If it isn't, then it'll offer an update.

Impulse will tell you of any available updates without verifying install.

That said, did you renew your subscription AFTER Impulse was sold to GameStop?

If so, you can't use Impulse.

JuniorCrooks:

It is my understanding that if someone's OD subscription was renewed after Impulse was purchased by GameStop then they would only have access to their OD apps through the Stardock store link (until something better comes along).  Those whose OD subscription is still current after Impulse was purchased by GameStop are still able to access their OD apps through Impusle until their OD subscription expires or they renew their subscription.

Also I believe Impulse does not check your computer to see what version of WindowBlinds is installed but goes by what it's database indicates the version you last had installed through Impulse and what version is available through Impulse.

Also, the OD subscription is also matched according to what the expiry date last indicated on the Impulse database and doesn't check Stardock's active subscriptions as that is a different company now.

Hope that explains it.

OK Jim I think you answered my question concerning my subscription because yes i did renew after impulse was sold. I guess I missed that in the forms.

I verified the wb install and it said it was not installed correctly and then offered an update but I already have the latest version.

I did however find an update for cursorfx and OD plus which I installed with impulse.

I found the method to run windowblinds 7.2 Beta ...
Once you log out from windows start windows then log on again .....
everything is working as it should ...

Startup is a bug for WB 7.2 Beta pls release new version without this bug

Neil...Just think someone should say what a great job you did and are doing with WindowBlinds! Without it we would all have really fugly desktops and this is the greatest thing since sliced bread! Keep up the great work!

Is that with all skins or just certain skins?  If so which skins are they?

Some of mine which haven't been updated to W7 yet. Noctilucent does it, whereas Blue Xtasy works fine.
