A very exciting day for Impulse as we have added several fantastic games to the Atari catalog including Baldur’s Gate, Icewind Dale sagas, and Neverwinter Nights games!

Oh, and these are DRM-free and available worldwide!

Pretty cheap too. Maybe if I come third in the Elemental "Design a quest" competition I'll pick a couple up

They are good games that I remember fondly. I'd recommend anyone purchasing check out the quality mods available for them.

Icewind Dale is one of my all time favorite rpg's. (and I'm going back to Tales of the Unknown vol. One) It is more of an action rpg but still... It held my attention longer than Baldur's Gate... although I enjoyed that one as well. NWN is another classic. Played through the sp game twice and quite a few modules with friends. Oddly I never got into the xpacks. Very cool pickup for Impulse

While I'm glad to see wider distribution I do hope that the availability here doesn't cannibalize sales for <popular download site redacted> from whom I got BG.  I support them and their efforts as much as I support Impulse.

Gog? Nah, it'd say if anything, they're > popular download site.  They are available in europe after all.

Never got around to Baldur's Gate series... Seems that I am missing out. Lets change that.

Man! I loved all these games. I especially loved Icewind Dale.

I may pickup Icewind Dale complete in the future.

Will there be multiplayer through Impulse for any of these games?  I already own them, but have been unable get the multiplayer to work (at least for icewind dale, the only one we've tried) since upgrading to windows 7.

I think it's fine to have games available on as many stores as possible. People who prefer Impulse can now easily choose that route and still get some great classics.

The Baldur's Gate series is what really got me hooked on computer RPGs.  I spent hundreds of hours exploring the Sword Coast, Baldur's Gate, Amn and the surrounding countryside.  I feel these games are "required" for gamers in the same way classics of literature are required for avid readers.  There is a lot to learn from how these games were made.

Heh, I'm still amazed that NWN's online community is still going strong.

I doubt that any of the games will be updated with multiplayer through Impulse.

Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale were originally released with TCP/IP networking, so you should still be able to easily start a multiplayer campaign. Finding a campaign to join may be more difficult - I don't remember either of these games having an in-game game browser (a screen that lists available multiplayer games).

baldurs gate is epic my favorite game

Icewind dale lists windows 7 as one of the minimum operating system requirements, but Baldur's Gate only gives windows XP - does that mean the impulse version isn't compatible with windows 7 (or vista)?

That's easier to do when you're not forced to use official servers which can be yanked at any time and often are.
