A very exciting day for Impulse as we have added several fantastic games to the Atari catalog including Baldur’s Gate, Icewind Dale sagas, and Neverwinter Nights games!

Oh, and these are DRM-free and available worldwide!

Will there be multiplayer through Impulse for any of these games?  I already own them, but have been unable get the multiplayer to work (at least for icewind dale, the only one we've tried) since upgrading to windows 7.

I doubt that any of the games will be updated with multiplayer through Impulse.

Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale were originally released with TCP/IP networking, so you should still be able to easily start a multiplayer campaign. Finding a campaign to join may be more difficult - I don't remember either of these games having an in-game game browser (a screen that lists available multiplayer games).

Plus the fact that other then NWN these games are a decade or more old.  Would be *very* surprised if there would even still be any MP games going.  But these games are old style that did direct MP like Doom.  They aren't even up to the "Gamespy" days of MP let alone modern protocols.

Heh, I'm still amazed that NWN's online community is still going strong.

Yeah. I spent almost endless hours just using Kamiryns' CBC to make every character concept I could imagine, and then testing them out in a custom battle arena mod I created. I've never seen a game with more replayability.

Great pick ups, congrats Stardock!  I loved all of those games, especially NWN.  I can't see myself playing through them again, but its great to know they are available digitally if the itch comes up.

I never actually finished the single player campaign, instead I wasted years playing on some of the persistent worlds.

*drools* Baldur's Gate 2 (in particular, the rest were ok enough) - now there I remember many many hours of eventful exploration and questing back in the days. I still remember getting it delivered when it was brand new. The store had double charged me, but that was easily taken care of. The rest, well pure entertainment for weeks.

I picked up the Baldur's Gate full set last year - well worth it, and I might very well pick up the Icewind Dale series.

Now, if you could please pick up *Planescape* please?

Actually, I'd just be happy if they could pick up Baulder's Gate 3.

It would be nice to actually be able to play the game.

Despite it's "Worldwide" tag, it downloads the US and Canada version no matter where abouts in the world you are.

So my living in the UK means I can't play the sodding thing despite having paid for it.

Sorry, I should have said that I was refering to Baldurs Gate 1 in my previous post.

Imho the NWN series set the bar for modability. Simple mods can be made by anyone.. and there are very little limitations for the advanced mod makers. I own all the games in the series and nwn is my preferred modding platform (nwn2 is prettier so i use that when possible although some already built in functions make nwn easier/faster to mod with in certain situations)

The fact that the script language is pretty much modified(and simplified) version of C with a built in compiler made it seem like learning the language was far easier than say.. python. (I tried to learn python I really did.. but that language is horribly more complex imho)

Speaking of nwn2 modding **wanders back to nwn2 to keep working on his empire ruler mod**

Yup, BG1 not playable outside of North America!

Hopefully that can be fixed asap?

I have wasted  many hours playing and replaying the BG series. Had to stop when my games no longer worked with newer windows os. Thanks Impulse you made me repurchase the entire series for a reasonable sum and now you will be responsible for me wasting many more hours with BG.

great news, shame i got BG collection a few days before it came to impulse, bought icewind dale and also going to get icewind dale 2, what are the chances of planescape torment coming to impulse?
