Whether you are interested in one or not, at least you can be thankful the rumors are done and that the much speculated iPad is announced.

For the most part, it really seems like a big iPhone or iPod Touch.  They also introduced the iBook Store which seems to obviously be going directly after the Kindle and the Amazon book store.   Base price is $499 with options like 3G connectivity and more storage space that can bring it over $800.

I’m still looking over the details, but it certainly is an interesting device, but certainly not game changing.  It won’t be out for a few months so I guess we have time to think about.

DANLAM,

I've had an iPad for a while now, and it's still finding new ways to prove its usefulness to me.  I agree that especially the browsing is second to none.  I use it to remotely control systems, remotely watch live or pre-recorded TV (either over WiFi or 3G), light content-creation (ie. word-processing etc.) but I haven't played any 3D games on it yet.......how is that and which games do you play on it if you don't mind my asking?

I can only say that I love mine. Wireless printing, you name it...and I haven't started looking at the remote control apps.

When you do start looking.  Take a good look at the app called "Desktop Connect".  It was pretty cheap and you get both: connecting to VNC and RDP for your money.

I know Logmein is popular, but I stayed away because it requires *third-party* intervention in the connection process.  Desktop Connects connects you straight to either VNC or RDP no need to install a third-party client first (Mac's come with VNC as their remote control and PC's have RDP by default).  It works best over WiFi of course but I did notice slowdown when using VNC over 3G at the highest resolutions (RDP was fast regardless of connection-type).
