When Obama was elected, and when democrats got majority control, all we heard was how “transparent” they will be.  The public will be given 48 hours to review bills before being voted on, and Obama told us that his administration will be “transparent”.  Yeah right.

Democratic leaders are looking to forgo a formal, public conference to merge the House and Senate's health care overhaul bills, giving Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the White House free rein to hammer out the final measure behind closed doors and thwart Republican efforts to stymie it.

The maneuver gives Democratic leaders the ability to quickly work through hundreds of differences between the 2,000-page bills and to keep control over the deals they will need to make on politically touchy topics such as abortion, taxes and Medicare cuts.

These people are out of control.

They are like someone who learned to drive a three cylinder geo metro and are now sitting in a lamborgini. Too much power they can't keep it on the road.

Even C-Span (that arm of the VRWC) is calling for them to open up.

Screw Obama's worthless promises, they just want to stop the dictatorship from getting worse!

Wasn't it Obama who said his administration would be transparent, not the Democrats in congress? I don't remember hearing the Dems explicitly say that they would be transparent. Likewise, how come the Republicans are not leading by example?

AJ

And this is why so many here can't help but verbally smack you around. You completely avoided the reality of the article, that Obama promised transparency (and according to Adventure-Dude so did Pelosi) in this Administration and so far we have yet to see any and quickly went after why the Republicans are not dong anything. They are in case you haven't noticed, they are standing their ground by not going with this lie of a bill that you yourself don't want passed either.

So maybe you need to drop the hypocrisy and point your fingers to the real problem here, the Democrats. That's not to say the Republicans are better or perfect. They too need to get their acts straight but at this point they don't have any power so I not worried about them right now.

Adventure-Dude, that was precious. I almost choked on my pizza as I read you quote from Pelosi. What do you have to say about that AJ, you need to pay more attention. Maybe add some FoxNews to your diet. Seems your other network are not feeding you nutritious information.

I had pizza for lunch too.

I don't recall the Republicans stating that they were going to be the most transparent and most ethical, maybe I missed it?

C-SPAN wants the public to view all the meetings.  Here is the response from Pelosi.

"There has never been a more open process for any legislation in anyone who’s served here’s experience," she said."

Stop trying to turn this around.  This isn't about the republicans, this is about Obama and his democrats doing backroom deals on a huge bill that will burden every taxpayer.

Once again, Obama has been shown to be a complete liar, and thankfully the American people are realizing what a mistake they made.

Thank you AD. Now I know about it, given that I hadn't read or heard about it.

wtf?

Dude, Charles...all I did was do two things.... 1) Asked about it, because I wasn't sure (You know, I asked instead of assuming I knew...) 2) I suggested that instead of complaining more so about what the Dems do, to start worrying about what the GOP does. Actions speak louder than words - lead by example - these are all things that you and others here have suggested. That's great, but...it shouldn't be just the Dems you should be concerned with...what about your party?

You're not worried about them? Why not be worried about them, since we have to deal with both of the knucklehead party's. Frankly, your tactics (The Dems should do this, the dems should do that, the dems...) indicates to me that you're all about pointing the fingers. Fine, yes, hold dems accountable - but until you start holding the gop accountable, you really have no ground to stand on. It's akin to the pot calling the kettle black. If you're going to hold a politicians accountable, hold them ALL accountable - don't target one group or another, it smacks of party games.

Oh great Doc: I asked an honest question because I couldn't remember. Would you rather I went ahead and assumed, since you already assume that I know everything (which isn't the case)? Good grief.

I don't recall the Republicans stating that they were going to be the most transparent and most ethical, maybe I missed it?

Point isn't about what people said, but the matter of the cyclical (problematic) system we're in. Someone does something wrong, it turns into partisan clap trap (i.e. You get any or all party pundits on air talking about how the other party is horrible, evil, etc.). The party's followers then step in line and parrot (whether it is the party of the unethical politician, or his opponents).

Why? Why do we do this? I want to hear someone step in and say, quite simply, "Enough is enough. Neither of you guys are ethical - you're all a bunch of assholes. Start holding yourself accountable; no more lies, no more crap, nothing. If you do something wrong, admit it and fix it - if need be, step the fuck down. Enough is enough."

That's it. I don't care what party, what politician. I would throw the lot of them out if I could - even my own state reps and senators.

Now if you could, please take my entire comment in context people. (Not specified toward a single person) I know you all have a predisposition towards me due to the immature crap I pulled 4+ years ago, and that I'm some big bad evil liberal (\s), but I would hope that you could at-the-least, truly take a look at my words and what I mean. (If I'm not getting something across, or there are any questions, ask me please.)

Maybe add some FoxNews to your diet.

Oddly enough - though don't mention this to Nitro, he'll naturally have a seizure (\s) - I do read and listen to FoxNews. Just because I don't care for it, and that I am often overly critical of its...presentation style, doesn't mean I won't gather my news from all biases. In fact, funny as it is to me, my gf often gets all up in arms about it.

Why? This is an issue that isn't exclusive to one party.

s/ Really, lets get all high and mighty on the Obama and Dems; lets talk about how transparent and ethical they should be. Like we Jesus product Republicans! \s

Again, point being (as I stated above): See my second to last point on my previous reply.

Agreed, he's been shown to be a typical politician. Oooh, surprise there! What, did you suspect, the second coming?  Oh, wait, guess not since them honest and ethical politicians are everywhere.

The republicans don't have majority control, and they are not the ones ramming this BS bill through with back door deals and closed door meetings.

Yes, lets get high and mighty.  Remember Obama the messiah who actually convinced people he was "transparent" and "different"?

This is about one party right now.  I really don't care at this moment what the republicans are doing, they aren't in charge!

I expected him to be a complete failure, and so far I have been right.

You must not have read or seen anything about Obama if you even have to make a comment like that.  Wasn't the Obama slogan.......CHANGE, HOPE, YES WE CAN!
