When Obama was elected, and when democrats got majority control, all we heard was how “transparent” they will be.  The public will be given 48 hours to review bills before being voted on, and Obama told us that his administration will be “transparent”.  Yeah right.

Democratic leaders are looking to forgo a formal, public conference to merge the House and Senate's health care overhaul bills, giving Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the White House free rein to hammer out the final measure behind closed doors and thwart Republican efforts to stymie it.

The maneuver gives Democratic leaders the ability to quickly work through hundreds of differences between the 2,000-page bills and to keep control over the deals they will need to make on politically touchy topics such as abortion, taxes and Medicare cuts.

These people are out of control.

The republicans don't have majority control, and they are not the ones ramming this BS bill through with back door deals and closed door meetings.

So what? Accountability and ethics have nothing to do with whether you are the majority or not. I don't have to wait until the short, broad shouldered, husky built people are the majority to stop and ask myself - Am I accountable for my actions and inactions? Am I being ethical?

The republicans are just as accountable for their inaction. We all expect our party's to lead and govern, but neither are. The republicans are not stepping up and showing the Dems how to govern - they're all about two letters: N - O. Time and again - the republicans and democrats have said "Oh they're not being ethical or accountable," but turn a blind eye when their party does the same. I would have much more respect for them if they did. Hell, I might even be wiling to support their efforts. But they're not doing that...they...like the dems...are merely resorting to finger pointing and pinning the fault on someone else.

Why should you or I be any different? Why shrug it off and resort to a child-esque, "Well it isn't about us, it's them!" (God, I'm again reminded of the political cartoon that said: "It isn't OUR morals we're concerned about, it's theirs!" How sadly true)

This is the most tyrannical majority Government I've seen in my lifetime. Backroom deals and closed door sessions are unamerican.

I expected him to be a complete failure, and so far I have been right.

So did I.  I did not expect him to be a liar and a criminal.  So he is below my expectations.

Maybe add some FoxNews to your diet.

Oddly enough - though don't mention this to Nitro, he'll naturally have a seizure (\s) - I do read and listen to FoxNews.

I'm not bothered by whatever you watch. You have to be able to comprehend the information or it's just noise.

Dr Guy

I expected him to be a complete failure, and so far I have been right.

So did I.  I did not expect him to be a liar and a criminal.  So he is below my expectations.

Pretty much sums it up.  For a lot of people, including many Democrats.  A good friend, a lifelong Democrat - who gave me endless 'chimp' grief nearly every week on the golf course for the full 8 years of GWB's 'illegitimate, stolen' administration, who couldn't begin to understand how I could possibly support anything GW did or that Republicans stood for, who was nearly apoplectic when Kerry lost, who was maddeningly annoying in his zealotry for BO, who was even more annoyingly self-righteous after BO won - just last week publicly disavowed the Democratic party in disgust and registered as an Independent.  It took only eleven months.  And I never worked on him or said one critical word about BO to him after the election.

After thought - just shows how people with starkly different political viewpoints can still be good friends.

And how tolerant conservatives can be of liberals.

Dude, Charles...all I did was do two things.... 1) Asked about it, because I wasn't sure (You know, I asked instead of assuming I knew...)

You did pose a question, but you followed it with a statement that screamed "you liar". You were not acting on ignorance, you were acting on the belief that the Democrats had not said it but you got busted by AD and now you're acting like "I didn't know" when all you had to do was do some research or at least pay more attention to the news. You're comment did not come off as ignorant, it came off as confindent you were right and the article writer was wrong but you failed to take into account that some here always back up their comments.

2) I suggested that instead of complaining more so about what the Dems do, to start worrying about what the GOP does.

The thing is AJ, the Republicans are not the ones with the power right now. They could be everything a Republican or Conservative voter can dream of in a politician, but it's those who voted for the Democrats and would like vote for them again the ones that need to have their eyes opened. It's the Democrats in Congress and the Senate the ones who are BSing us and need to be called out on.

Again AJ your problem is you ignored the major problem and instead focused on the small details. The Republicans will be doing everything they can to get elected, maybe even do what they promise, the voters will take care of business with the Republicans when the time is right, during elections. Right now, they are useless as it's the Democrats the ones selfishly working on this bill (that i restate you don't like) behind closed doors.

It would be nice to see you to take something like this comment posted by ID from Pelosi, "There has never been a more open process for any legislation in anyone who’s served here’s experience," she said.", and complain about how this is such a BS comment and that she is an embarressment to the party. But no, instead you focus, again, on the small fries.

Well, ultimately it comes to perspective right?

I didn't mean to portray that I was right, or imply my saying "you liar." I'm just tired of hearing y'all bitch and moan about what the Dems are doing wrong, when you got your own shit to clean up. It really just amounts to nothing more than finger pointing if people are completely focused on one side.

Like I have said - it shouldn't matter ultimately who is in power. If they're being unethical, full of shit, and so on - Hit 'em where it hurts.

Bullshit, the republicans have BS'd and lied to people as well. I mean really - the death panel crap - to name just one. Blatant lying, and misinformation.

(Also - Charles, I've openly criticized both Obama and the Dems on several issues.)

Again, I guess it all comes down to perception. You've shown me that you're more inclined to go after the Dems and not so much the GOP, as well as do various other things at various different angles. Yay for being a political gymnast. (\s(

They still represent a group of people. Like it or not, I don't believe that holding people accountable should come down to whomever is in power. It gives them too easy a loop hole to get through. 100% accountable, 100% of the time.

That's because to me the issue I've focused on encompasses the details.

You just don't get it.  They can't lead because they are not in power.  The democrats are shutting them out of meetings they should be in.  The media doesn't even cover it!  You are just making excuses for the democrats now.

Bullshit, the republicans have BS'd and lied to people as well. I mean really - the death panel crap - to name just one. Blatant lying, and misinformation.

Actually that has proven to be correct.  You should read more about the current bill.

If they're being unethical, full of shit, and so on - Hit 'em where it hurts.

Then why are you avoiding the issue and making excuses?

Here's more from Pelosi:

"Pelosi also hinted that holding informal negotiations--likely without TV cameras--might be the most practical way to push the legislation through.

"We will do what is necessary to pass the bill," Pelosi said.

Of course!  After all, the conservative motto is "Where there is life, there is hope" for even liberals to learn.

"There has never been a more open process for any legislation," Pelosi said at a press conference.

"We will do what is necessary to pass the bill," Pelosi said.

It is amazing that anyone would defend Pelosi after she basically contradicted herself - THE SAME DAY

But I guess PT Barnum was correct, and those suckers are easy to find.  They have liberal tatooed on their forehead, and nothing behind it.
