20090624233153 With the launch of Windows 7 growing ever so close, Microsoft is now promoting the Windows Launch events which will take place in cities across the United States.  These launch events are targeted at IT Professionals and Developers, and the best part is you get a free copy of Windows 7 for attending.  Did I mention these events are free as well?

I attended a similar event for the Windows Vista launch a couple of years ago in Orlando.  It was actually an interesting event, I learned quite a few things, and I got to talk and network with tons of IT professionals from all around the state.  If you have the time to attend one of these, I highly recommend it.

You can find the cites and dates available at the following link.

Well they could have picked Albuquerque!  Having to travel to either Denver or Dallas sort of adds some cost to attending a free launch event to get a free copy of Windows 7.  it is a nice idea.  I'll just have to wait for my pre-order upgrade to get here.

Hmmm, why is it you lot get all the good stuff for free?  There were similar events here in Oz for the launch of Vista, but as I recall there was an admission price... around AUD $210, if memory serves me correctly.  For a few pennies more I could have flown to the States and picked up a free copy while sightseeing.

Yes! It's like 15 minutes away from where I live!   Too bad I'm not a network or IT professional. Do you think I could still get a free copy?

w. 42 street... The garbage is like waist high over there....

That sure brings back memories;

Congress center downtown Montreal in July 95 where i simply picked up a demo CD of the first revolution in M$-OS... so we were all told as per their invitation documents.

Only problem was that an employer never cared much about some Excel work done for inventory control the summer after. By september 13th 96, i was once again outa job.

Call it the fear of change by co-workers and the floppy loops made of ONE insufficient salary leading to the first of a few more 1500$ PCs dumped in garbage, encoded to fill a waste of hopes and spent on a string of administrative tools correctly handled.

Bad timing or promising fiction? You do the math. I still owe money for studying D-Base, Lotus and whatever else Borland and plenty more couldn't save off the takeovers.

How's that for automation of office (ooops, registered brand... sorry for using the word.) duties?

Mind if i cry.

Me and my wife both will be in Dallas on Nov 4 for that event. Hope to see someone from here there!

A good 6 hour drive for me. But worth it since the company buys the gas! Plus any other expense's we figure into the trip. I like trips to Dallas myself. But would of rather gone to another event location with more stuff going on like Vegas or something.

I'll be there!

I almost signed up for it but I decided a while back I wasn't gonna leech off MS with these events anymore.  They're cool enough for IT people, but I'm no longer employed in that field.
