Well I finally got Windows 7 installed on my laptop.  The only issue I had was getting the partitioning right, but that was my problem.

Installation took about 10 minutes, and in about 20 minutes overall I was on the desktop ready to work.  Very impressive!

So far, Windows 7 seems very fast and haven’t run into any problems as of yet.  No problems with application compatibility yet, and I’m really liking some of the design changes.

Still have a lot to go through, but my initial quick impression is great!

It may be a better OS but I suppose I'm wondering why no one but Brad had mentioned the 9 foot high taskbar
If you change the icons on the taskbar to small ones the Taskbar goes normal size....

Have you tried going into your disk management and checking if it shows up there?

Been there, done that....

BTW, when running W7 i can't see the drive where i have Vista installed, but from Vista i can see and access the drive with W7. Does this happen to anyone else?

I have a similar, but different problem. I wanted to install 7 as a dual boot with Vista onto a second drive already on my system. But when I try, 7 don't see that drive. It sees my C drive and my G drive (external) but not my F drive, internal.

{best community ever! Thanks pm41

Thanx Zub, but my problem is not seeing my Vista drive. 7 sees Vista and my external. But I want to install 7 onto a third drive that 7 installation does not see.

Start menu, properties, in that window you will see it in there with a little tick box.

There is a setting for smaller icons in the taskbar to make it smaller ....

Awesome! Thank you! That looks better. Like Brad said, That taskbar's a mess!

Windows 7 looks good, only issue I have is the Superbar kind of sucks. I like the idea on paper but in use it's a mess.

In complete agreement here! Superbar/Taskbar definitely needs work. That and the rainbow glow around the start button, looks distorted.

I actually decided to see what all the hype is about, and installed Windows 7 on my laptop, clean install. Install process went smooth, but had a little problem getting it to see my wireless during install. Evidently no drivers in Windows 7 for it, so I had to plug in the Ethernet cable and find a driver that worked. Had several other driver issues dealing with my docking station of my Sony VAIO VGN-A190, but I can live with that for a while I suppose. Other than those, everything went well.

Win 7 didn't install my wireless adapter, either... Netgear WG11 v2, but I just inserted my ISP's installation disc and Win 7 found the drivers and installed them.  Once connected to the internet, Win 7 updated with more recent drivers.

Yes, the taskbar is much improved by reducing the icon size ... in fact now that it's at a regular size I don't mind it at all, and I rather like the interactive icons, much better than the Vista ones.

I was rather hoping that reducing the taskbar and updating my GPU drivers would allow WindowBlinds to work properly, but alas, it still applies only 'windows classic'... however, the distorted start button and sys tray are gone.  Obviously, WB is not set up as yet to skin the wider taskbar.

I'm currently running a triple boot and choosing which HD to boot to via my motherboards boot menu. As long as you have the ability to do the same, you should have no problem.
