Every day I visit tons of website, forums, and social networks for all types of topics, most of which are technology based in some sort of form.  This election cycle has really brought out the best of the liberal “group think” mentality regarding Obama.  On just about every social network Obama is praised as “the one” and any hint of disagreement with his policies or ideals is immediately responded with accusations of racism, or just plain insults.  Anybody who wants to claim that liberals are tolerant to others, please give me a shout because I can quickly debunk that.  Even here on our network of sites, there have been insults tossed at the slightest hint of either supporting McCain, or being against Obama.  I’m certainly not saying conservatives don’t dish out their fair share, but the mentality of liberals has once again bordered on the insane and hateful.

It’s tough being a proud conservative, as I will say what I think regardless of what the group and mob mentality is.  The real shame is so many people, especially bloggers in the tech area, are afraid to do the same.  I have received so many private notes and comments in support of standing up for conservatism, it’s almost crazy.  The best comparison I can make is how conservative actors in Hollywood are often ridiculed or turned down for roles because of their conservative beliefs, and the same mentality is going on right now in the blogosphere.  Conservative bloggers, some of which can be considered A-list are having to remain silent about their thoughts on Obama and McCain, simply because they are afraid of retribution from their employers or just not being able to pickup work from other sites.  It’s a shame, and it’s more telling about liberals than it is anything.

I am a conservative, I don’t like Obama, and I will never let anyone intimidate me because of that.

Excalpius.. I give up with ya.. your coming off as spiteful, no sense of any kind of compromise or concession and an obvious knowitall.

Again, theres no debating with people who can't see right in front of their face, blinded by hatred for the other side.

Have the last word, you deserve it, you try so hard

Go on ... you know u wanna..

What I find interesting is the right complains that Obama isn't running against Bush he's running against MCCain and yet they keep saying Obama isn't Obama he's Odinga or Ayers or Wright or all three but he definitely isn't Obama.

The other thing I find interesting is McCain has complained Obama has a financial advantage in this election yet the RNC and its supporters are matching with millions of their own regardless of their own support for McCain from fear of losing Congressional seats.

It seems many are painting their pictures to match the tint of their glasses.

Just about 18 hours we'll start to see where it all goes. I know we're all "right" in what we believe. That's the beauty of the system.

I'm looking forward to participating in the greatest show on earth.

I'm looking forward to participating in the greatest show on earth.

And that is exactly what it is - a show

Now, it's a matter of the rating, it could end up with a "G" or even an "XXX" depending on how it pans out the next 4 years.

on Nov 03, 2008

Based on all the invective........this one's definitely been at least an R rated affair.

To be honest, if Obama's elected he then becomes my President....I may not like it, and I expect the worse, but I will support the President until he gives me a reason not to.

on Nov 03, 2008

Even though the election is tomorrow, this will play out over the next 4 years and I'll bet he will be a one term president if he wins.

My views on Sarah Palin are that she was dropped into the race unprepared and not qualified (for many reasons) to be in direct succession to the Presidency, or even to be Governor of Alaska. I did so in regular English and in Pyratese parodying her and I do not apologize for that. Keep the inappropriate "sawbones" to yourself until you acheve my Academic achievements.

And what was your qualifications for Obama again? NOw, how is he qualified? (Other than the constitution - which Palin would meet as well).

I know what happened in 2000, and Diebold Election Systems, Inc., didn't dissolve, it just changed it's name to Primier Election Solutions.

And you would also know that Diebold was not involved with the Florida 2k elections boondoggle?

Congrats, Bush took the crown for all and all time. And you lived to see it!

Still cant tell the present from history?

I just want to know one thing. Why is everyone convinced that we only have two options? Beyond that, what makes anyone think there's a huge difference between McCain and Obama? Almost everything we heard in the debates was a contrived one-size-fits-all response. All the attack ads are based on lies, conveniently leave out part of the facts (lie), misdirect the real issue (lie), or flat out lie.

The democrats and republicans are pretty much 2 sides of the same coin - they both support disproportionately large federal government, corporate/big media interests, diminishment of basic constitutional rights, and economic folly. If you really pay attention, they both say a lot of the same things, including the whole "change" mantra, and they both change their minds on their policies a lot, (maybe that's the change they're talking about.) They both avoid a lot of important issues like immediately converting to available clean energy, poverty and homelessness (both alarmingly prevalent in the US), and viable solutions to help our economy as opposed to just throwing money at it. They both try to look like liberal/conservative, but they're both closer to center, like Reps and Dems have been for at least a decade.

McCain is (of course) going to help the corporations and the already rich more than any other people. (Yeah, corporations legally count as people in virtually every way except the death penalty.) If McCain's really so much like Bush, he'll probably milk the war machine for all it's worth. Obama's campaign is funded by wall street and big corporations, so I would think he's pretty much in their pocket. He keeps talking about supporting the middle class, but the middle class is shrinking, and has been shrinking for a while, so that doesn't mean much.

Ralph Nader is way smarter and more straightforward than eitherMcCain or Obama, so is Ron Paul (shame he dropped out) and I imagine the green party candidate (the black woman candidate nobody knows about) and constitution party candidate (Chuck Baldwin) have policies in mind that will actually help this country.

I'm more or less conservative myself, I'd much rather vote for McCain than Obama because of moral issues, but I don't have to vote for either of them! Chuck Baldwin 2008! (By the way, Baldwin is considerably more conservative than Republicans have been in a long time.)

Tell that to the people in Florida - like my parents, haha.  When the final votes were tallied, after the Supreme Court intervened when it should not have, Gore WON that state's popular vote.  If the Supreme Court had just let the count continue, Bush would not have become President.

I am in Florida, and I say once again, nothing was stolen.  Best thing...get over it.

It's funny how you want to put the blame on Sept. 11 with Bush, considering that the attacks were planned over 5 years in advance.  I would go more into this, but it's obvious the far-left talking points are all some have to go on.

I've already addressed this in previous posts...ad nauseum.  Even the REPUBLICANS in Chicago say this is a waste of breath.  They've all worked CLOSELY with Ayers for decades.

That doesn't prove or address anything.  The fact is Obama lied about his associations with Ayers and other loons.  He did more than "work" with him, he helped launch his political career.  How can you defend someone who has been surrounding himself with marxists and terrrorists for so many years?  Oh, he's a democrats, that's why.

And Bush's daddy got him the governorship of Texas.  So friggin what?!  You can't have voted for Bush, who hasn't earned a damn thing in his entire life, and then pretend Obama's rise to power is somehow "suspicious".

Wow, I didn't know Bush appointed Bush as Governor of Texas.

Obama's charismatic, intelligent, and hard-working.  The right man at the right time.  You know, like Clinton, Kennedy, Reagan, and many other men who've come out of nowhere to become President - and like Lincoln, for another fine example.

Um....most of those people you list had good, verifiable credentials before running for President.  That can't be said for Obama.  The right man, for socialism maybe, not for anything else.

the black woman candidate nobody knows about)
....She got defeated in her bid to retain her seat in the house. Yeah, she is really qualified.

I just want to know one thing. Why is everyone convinced that we only have two options? Beyond that, what makes anyone think there's a huge difference between McCain and Obama?

I voted for Ross Perot. I felt at the time it was important to vote for what I believed was the best thing for my Country. Perot kept Bush Sr. from winning his second term. Perot proved that conservatives are much more willing to vote for what's best, instead of just holding to the Party line. Currently, I see no third party candidate that's proven to be a better choice than McCain. Nader would be a better choice than Obama were the race between those 2, I'd vote Nader.

May I present to you...

The United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

Well - that is a citation.  But irrelevant as you prove his point with the documents, not the statement you wanted to try to prove.

Besides, the nomination for Vice President of the United States shouldn't be a joke.

Tell that to Obama about Biden.  Best comic on the circuit this year.

Dems voted for the war due to the lies told by Bush & Co.

Then you can easily link to them and explain how they are lies (not your opinion they are lies) and how they are going to believe a speech over a report that only 3 of them actually read.

Perhaps what is galling to you is that they failed to do their own work, instead relied on others to read and then regurgitate the findings of the intelligence community.  That hardly makes it Bush's fault or lie.  It is not my fault if you fail to do the work you are paid to do.

on Nov 03, 2008

The right man at the right time. You know, like Clinton, Kennedy

Kennedy was not a good President and almost startd WWIII. He's the only one ever to put a finger on the nuclear button...

Tell that to the people in Florida - like my parents, haha

I'm a Florida native and Gore won my County........I have my office very close to the County seat.....I watched Public School buses full of people arrive at the County seat constantly on election day. Food was provided for those taking the ride. It was a great success getting out the vote at taxpayer expense............Same with signing up voters.....the County sent people door to door to sign up voters.

Thing is.....those buses didn't come to my neighborhood. Neither did the people signing up voters. The old people and shut-ins in my neighborhood had to find their own source of transportation. The buses only ran into the predominantly Democratic neighborhoods where hand outs were a way of life. Same with the "get out the vote" campaign......it was really the County using my tax dollars to get out the Democrats.
