Every day I visit tons of website, forums, and social networks for all types of topics, most of which are technology based in some sort of form.  This election cycle has really brought out the best of the liberal “group think” mentality regarding Obama.  On just about every social network Obama is praised as “the one” and any hint of disagreement with his policies or ideals is immediately responded with accusations of racism, or just plain insults.  Anybody who wants to claim that liberals are tolerant to others, please give me a shout because I can quickly debunk that.  Even here on our network of sites, there have been insults tossed at the slightest hint of either supporting McCain, or being against Obama.  I’m certainly not saying conservatives don’t dish out their fair share, but the mentality of liberals has once again bordered on the insane and hateful.

It’s tough being a proud conservative, as I will say what I think regardless of what the group and mob mentality is.  The real shame is so many people, especially bloggers in the tech area, are afraid to do the same.  I have received so many private notes and comments in support of standing up for conservatism, it’s almost crazy.  The best comparison I can make is how conservative actors in Hollywood are often ridiculed or turned down for roles because of their conservative beliefs, and the same mentality is going on right now in the blogosphere.  Conservative bloggers, some of which can be considered A-list are having to remain silent about their thoughts on Obama and McCain, simply because they are afraid of retribution from their employers or just not being able to pickup work from other sites.  It’s a shame, and it’s more telling about liberals than it is anything.

I am a conservative, I don’t like Obama, and I will never let anyone intimidate me because of that.

The only thing that gives me any respect for McCain at all is that I see him struggling with the sleeze. Not very effectively, but you can see it in his voice and in his eyes when he tries to turn negative. I find it very sad to see a man who was beaten down by torture after years now beaten down again by political sleeze-mongering and compromise.

At least he does fight it.. rather than embrace it like the other side.

If Bill Burton isn't the most obvious example of political sleeze-mongering I don't know what is.

So you "trust" a Chicago thug politician, eh?

So every politician from Chicago is a "thug"?!  Does that mean every politician from San Francisco is "gay"?  Or every politician from Florida is "Jewish"?  Or every politician from the midwest is a "rube"?

Can you prove that Obama has any "thugish" tendencies or is this just another unsubstantiated smear from whomever?

I do find it interesting that these smears all tend to come back to white fear of black stereotypes.  This is one is the old thug=criminal=black from forty years ago.  Though, if I remember correctly, the Chicago "thugs" were all white, so maybe not so much.

I think that BO is a credible candidate for the presidency.  I've indicated in numerous posts that for me I wanted to vote for candidates who will do something to improve employment, the economy, access to healthcare and accountability in government.

MCPhalin falls short in all those areas.  BO is much stronger in those areas.

As far as trust goes in government I believe in accountability and checks and balances as the three branchs of government were originally intended.

Are you aware that our Constitution requires that all Legislation originate in the House of Representatives?  Are you also aware that lobbiests, private lawyers and industry insiders write proposed legislation that a Congressman then puts their name on in what is in my opinion a unconstitutional distortion of Legislative powers?

haha.. no silly, just the obviously thugish ones, u know the ones that hang around with domestic terrorists, radical racist preachers, PLO spokespeople, Mortgage felons, buys partisan organizations, represses campaign reporters etc...

It's MASSIVELY transparent to me.. don't sell out to it for a hand out.

Tres Thuggish indeed.

Oh I hear you alright vStyler.  BO is popular be afraid.  BO is leading in the polls cook up some more smears.  I'm surprised the monsters haven't coined the term Al Qaeda of Obama yet.  Fear mongering is the last dull weapon of the losing cause.

I also want those things too BDBF.. but I'll choose character and honesty over any of them..

Maybe I'm just old school, I believe in doing the right thing.

At least he does fight it.. rather than embrace it like the other side.

The other answer is...the other side isn't sleezy.

To someone not predisposed by ideology to see things the other way, you might want to just consider that the rest of us, the ones who told you Bush and Cheney were lying corporatism sleezebags (and have been proven right, in spades) are telling you now that this man, Obama, isn't lying to you.

I know you won't consider that possibility, because all of this defensiveness is about having been proved wrong the past 8 years.  And instead of taking out you betrayal on the men who betrayed your trust so blatantly and shamelessly, you're going to descend into ideological denial.

I, on the other hand, was right about Bush/Cheney.  And while I am voting for Obama, I have no illusions that he will be able to deliver on all of his promises in the current political climate.  It is POLITICS, after all, a soul wrenching exercise in compromise.

But I do honestly believe that Obama WANTS to help the country and that he will spend 20 hours a day, 7 days a week, for the next four to eight years trying to make it better.

And for that, he'll get gray hair, an estranged wife and children in the media spotlight, a decade of death threats, the most magnificent prison in the nation, and an ungrateful electorate when those voting for him for the first time come to realize that you can't always get what you want...unless you compromise with the other side - those you've been told to hate by this horrendously devisive electoral process based on closet bigotry, ignorance, and fear.

So, I really HOPE Obama has what it takes.  But I KNOW McCain doesn't anymore.

Either way, I don't wish that job on anyone.

Why aren't you voting btw?  Your address says Togo, but if you're an American citizen you should just vote by mail/absentia.  You seem to feel strongly enough about the issues, but you mentioned earlier you can't or couldn't vote?

Sincerely, I'm asking, what's the scoop, oh master skinner?

No one is cooking up anything. If people choose to ignore the associations and the character of the man.. for the promise of a hand out... then they can live with that decision. Its all documented.. there is no fear mongering when what is being said is apparent.

Statements of fact.. nothing more, nothing less.

I'm British and I feel strongly about it because I do live here, My children are all growing up into it. I want safety, dignity, hard days work for a a hard days pay.

The things my grandfather and father passed along to me that I fear are quickly becoming a myth, to be replaced with apathy, entitlement and liberalism.

You're just a die hard conservative apparently vStyler.  If those are your inclinations then suit yourself.

I however, don't agree that this Ayers association is anything unsavory, ominus or dangerous inspite of all the RNC attempts to convince Americans that they should believe it to be.  It is 100% a contrived issue because his assocation with Ayers was harmless.  Ayers was a college professor at the time, he had long since served his time in prison and had long ended his prior domestic violence acts.  Yet because Ayers hosted a fund raising coffee at his house for BO people want to distort the implications to generate fear about OB.  I think the unethical conduct in this matter is the conduct of those who seek to deny the truth and exploit a harmless situation for their own gain.

BO has plenty of character and plenty of leadership.

Well, what I see is a consistent pattern of being associated with characters that I wouldnt bring home to mom. If people can't see that theres just more to 'it' than what the Obama camp lets on.. then.. I question their judgement.

I like the old "winners never cheat and cheaters never win".. so lets see how it all goes down...

Not over till the slightly heavier than normal lady sings.

anyway.. time for Football!!!!!!!!!

Because you are doubtful you want others to be doubtful also.  You seem to enjoy a degree of fear mongering.

no different than telling people to fear the bush legacy.. now is it?

by that rationelle, any attack or questioning of either side by the other is fear mongering I guess.

BO isn't President yet.  You keep creating bogey men.  Phantom issues and the like. The problems GWB et all, brought about were real problems that we all here lived through and they will continue to cause us problems for years.  What, the Iraq War isn't a real enough problem for you?  I haven't posted endless nonsense about McCain.  You've posted alot of nonsense about BO.
