Well it looks like Tropical Storm/Hurricane Fay is headed our way.  It probably should be here sometime early tomorrow, but I don’t expect it to be too bad.  They obviously closed down school tomorrow, which is funny since today was the first day of school.  I just need to bring in some chairs and plants from outside and that is about all I’m going to do.

Went to get the store to get some gas and some food, and they were both crazy with stupid people running around like an asteroid was about to hit.

The first squalls are starting to move in, so to anyone else in Florida, keep safe and keep your head down.  Please use this thread to check-in and let everyone know how you are doing.

I find big storms to be one of those dark things you can find beauty in.

Agreed... once death and destruction is set aside

Sadly, Mother Nature doesn't discriminate and everything in her path is at risk... let's just hope that Florida witnesses none of the horror and only the beauty.

IF an asteroid hits earth.., there is no where to run

...even though, you might see a lot of stupid people running as hell, like chickens without head

Well, Tropical Storm Fay has made landfall, with maximum sustained winds of 60 MPH.

YOu know ID, you could have been nice and sent the remnants up to us. We need the rain. But Nooooo! Florida has to hog all the rain to itself!

It's funny what you remember....
During Francis I watched a particular squirrel that was clinging to the side of a tall laurel Oak in my yard. He stayed on the side away from the wind for hours....moving sideways around the tree as the wind direction changed during the storm. The tree waswhipping back and forth with every gust, some over 70MPH. Even after the top 30+ feet of the tree snapped off he was still there. I'm fairly sure he/she survived.

Well, so far, Fay is a flop here on the mid-westcoast around Sarasota. It's still early, but so far no rain, no wind, no flying cows.

Did have lots of stupid people running around the stores yesterday though

Come to NY and take the rain away from here. I don't think we have had a single week where it didn't rain at least a day or two since around april or may.

That story paints a pretty funny picture Lantec

West Palm Beach here. Nice to see many JU members live so close by. Just watching the rain fall and a tornado or 2 wandering around the area. So far all is well, at work right now.

Luck to you all

Luck? We Floridians, we live for this stuff. Bring it on Fay. I got this.
