The Nintento Revolution is something I definitely want.

The Nintendo Revolution will go on sale later this year at a price of less than $300, the company's executive vice president of sales and Marketing Reggie Fils-Aime told CNET News.com in an interview earlier this week. The news sent the company's stock soaring in Japan, up 6.4 percent to 16,090 yen Friday.

Fils-Aime also took the opportunity to criticize Nintendo's rivals for pricing consumers out of the market. He pointed to the Xbox 360's high startup cost as an example where the average consumer would need to spend about $700 to fully experience the system, not including an HDTV.

Hey Island Dog,
That's great news, actually, for me more so than the less than $300 price. I'm excited about Nintendo putting out some games for the "over teen and 20 age group" I myself have been a "gamer" since the days of atari Yep, showing my age here. So, I'm really looking forward to seeing what they come out with. Also the fact that they are putting games out geared for women Though, it will be interesting to see how difficult the game will actually be. Hasn't been a game put in front of me that I haven't beat yet

Though, I must admit I am an all time Zelda fan...I think that's one of the best games out on the market, and I usually compare any game I play against that one.

Only downfall I have ever seen between Nintendo, PsP and now Xbox, (since I have all 3) The fact that in order to play certain Nintendo games you have to buy this or that as and added "extension" to actually view the game as it was intended upon. Now with PsP and Xbox, your not required to buy all the xtra's in order to play the games, just put it in and away you go, which is a big plus in my book. I do hope that Nintendo has seen this as a consumer downfall, and got rid of those "extension extras" in order to play the game.(though I do think it was a wonderful marketing approach to get consumers to buy nmore Nintendo products)

Anyway, enough of my book, Kudos to Nintendo and dropping the price of a new product, since most are kids today and use they're allowance money or good ole' Mom and Dad to buy it for them

Finally one of those companies has some sense and set a reasonable price (somewhat) for a gaming system. I do not and probably will never own a gaming system, other than a PC, but even the thought of spending $300-$1000 on an Xbox or the PS3 starting at $800 boggles my mind.

PS3 starting at $800

Highly doubtful. They stated the most PS3 will run is about $500. They have to remain competitive with Xbox prices.

Sold!

And the latest news on PS3...

PlayStation 3 price - $500?
Analysts, developers say they expect Sony's new console to break new price barriers.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) – While there was little doubt the Xbox 360 was going to be a hit in the just completed holiday season, no one was real sure how consumers would react to the $399 price tag.

Despite the $100 bump over the launch price of the original Xbox, few seemed to mind. Now, with Sony's PlayStation 3 looming, it appears another price threshold may be crossed before the year is out.

I'm glad to see Nintendo trying to keep things steady, price - wise. Let's hope Revolution launches before the PS3 so there will actually be gamers left to buy the system.

I'm excited about the ability to play previous system games on it - even if it's through some discombobulated online system.

When I played 360, the 'new' graphics didn't impact me as much and I began to wonder at why one would plunk down 400+ dollars for higher res. . I think Nintendo understands the same problem and will probably offer a more modest graphics improval realizing gamers may not see enough of a difference to warrent spending 100 - 200 dollars more for extra bells and whistles.

I still think spending more than one or two hundred dollars on a game system is a lot. But that's just me.
