This country is not worth dying for..." - Cindy Sheehan

"The Iraqis who have risen up against the occupation are not "insurgents" or "terrorists" or "The Enemy." They are the REVOLUTION, the Minutemen, and their numbers will grow -- and they will win." - Michael Moore

"(Americans) are possibly the dumbest people on the planet ... in thrall to conniving, thieving, smug pr*cks. We Americans suffer from an enforced ignorance. We don’t know about anything that’s happening outside our country. Our stupidity is embarrassing." - Michael Moore

"I like America to some extent." - Michael Moore

"When I see an American flag flying, it's a joke." - Robert Altman

Whenever we come up on the Fourth of You Lie, I think of Frederick Douglas and his masterful oration, The meaning of the Fourth of July to the Negro. Pledge the flag? I think not!" - Julianne Malveaux

"My daughter, who goes to Stuyvesant High School only blocks from the World Trade Center, thinks we should fly an American flag out our window. Definitely not, I say: The flag stands for jingoism and vengeance and war." - Katha Pollitt

"While the rest of the country waves the flag of Americana, we understand we are not part of that. We don't owe America anything - America owes us." - Al Sharpton

'If you can't work up here, boy, you're out of it.' That's why I'm sure that if those towers had been destroyed without loss of life, a lot of people would have cheered. Everything wrong with America led to the point where the country built that tower of Babel, which consequently had to be destroyed. And then came the next shock. We had to realize that the people that did this were brilliant. It showed that the ego we could hold up until September 10 was inadequate." - Norman Mailer

"I think if Kerry were to win this in a tight race, I think there would be an effort to mount a coup, quite frankly." - Bill Moyers

God lord. THe Michael Moore quote about Americans being stupid is kind of true, though, and he proves it himself. He insults us and makes us out to be evil, and we make him wealthy buying his junk. The same with the Mailer quote. Many Americans would have cheered... because they are the kind of idiots that make Mailer and Moore famouse and wealthy.

"I don't feel pride when I see an American flag flying....now, when I see a Gay Pride parade in The Village, and the participants wrapping themselves in diapers made of the flag, and burning the flag, then I feel proud."----Jeanene Garofalo (or however you spell it)

What a true American liberal, huh?

Oh, be fair, LW. Bobby Fischer doesn't qualify as a liberal OR conservative, just a whack job!

He may be a chess genius, but that's about the extent of it. And what the F%^& kind of marketable job skill should THAT be?!?

But I digress...

Y'know...I never thought of that. What does he do for a living, anyway?

heh, at least "chess genius" is a bone fide skill. Al Sharpton doesn't even have fashion sense...

What's funny is they say these things then say....."don't question my patriotism".

"I would think that if you understood what Communism was, you would hope, you would pray on your knees, that we would someday become communists." Jane Fonda

I read this quote years ago, when I was a teenager, and even then it occurred to me how just plain moronic she was with this statement.
If you were (or wanted to be, as the case may be) a communist, you quite probably wouldn't be praying, especially on your knees. You'd likely be an atheist.
But then, that little nugget of fact probably escaped her; she had other things on her mind, like trying on pith helmets, and sighting in and shooting down American planes from her North Vietnamese AA gun. What a stupid bitch.

"He hoped and prayed that there wasn't an afterlife.
Then he realized there was a contradiction involved here and merely hoped that there wasn't an afterlife." (Douglas Adams)

Some of these are fair enough inclusions but most of them, you simply confuse an ability to recognise faults with a lack of patriotism. Blind love is not true love (once you get past the age of 16).

LW... he said some, not all.
