Xbox 360 pricing announced

Microsoft has finally put to rest months of speculation, announcing official pricing and models for its upcoming Xbox 360 home entertainment console. The basic version of the Xbox 360 will run $299.99 USD, will a premium edition priced at $399.99 USD.

The core Xbox 360 model includes only the console without hard drive, wired controller and standard AV cable. For an extra $100, gamers receive a special console with metallic detailing, 20GB hard drive, wireless controller, remote control, headset, high-definition AV cable and an Xbox Live Silver membership.

Please explain on how Microsoft is "price gouging".

Perhaps you might consider reading someone's post before criticising it. I said there is NO CASE to be made for price gouging. In fact, you even quoted me saying that I said that.

Think back 10 years, now think of today... are not both of these systems kick ass? I am a MS fan myself, not because of who has the better console, but who has the better online gameing. Everyone keeps bashing MS for being greedy, yet there online gaming prices's are by far the cheapest in any industry.

Now what about Sony, didnt they "invent" the "CD"? and for years and years, did they not get a kick back from every single CD sold, no matter what company or manufacturer sold it? Isnt that being a little greedy? Look at Sony in other markets as well, have you priced a Sony Laptop latley or a Sony alarm clock (that is made by another manufacturer and then Sony branded and the priced hiked up by 150%, Sony is notoriuos for this).

Point being, No company is better than another when it comes to taking our money. They both make great consoles, and like I mentioned earlier, I enjoy the MS version because of the online expeirance.

Ummm.... I don't know what exactly you mean by 'cheapest in the industry' but M$ does seem to be ripping people off for online play. Tell me, what games (aside from mmorpg) cost money every year to play online? Hmm, only games i cant think og would be XBOX games. Do playstation games cost money per month for online playabiliy? NO. What about PC Games? NO. So whats so cheap about it? $50 for Halo2 or whatever crap game people are playing on Xbox PLUS $10 a month (or however much it costs)? That sir, is not cheap at all. Take Half Life 2 for example. $50 lands you Half Life 2 singleplayer (a wonderful game by any means, worth more than the $50) PLUS Half Life 2 deathmatch, PLUS Counter-Strike Source. Wow, 3 games, two of them online, for the price of an overhyped sequel.

That sir, is greedy. Really, its not like Microsoft needs the money anyway.

Oh and about the whole M$ buying their way into the industry... Didn't this exact thing happen years ago involving Microsoft? Yes, yes it did, and its called Internet Explorer.
