Seems like 6 months to a year ago the story was AOL wasn't going to continue to develop or support WinAmp. It's the one I use, however, I didn't see any items in the list of fixes that I've had any problems with.

The story was that the last original dev left and all we were to expect from then on were maintenance builds. Like this one.

I wonder why 5.09 isn't being offered at the main winamp site? They still have 5.08.

I have Winamp set up to automatically check for updates, and it hasn't come up there, either.

Maybe they're trying to introduce it slowly, to avoid bandwidth issues.

Finally, after so many pre-releases. I forget what letter I'm up to with the 5.08 version. I did however just now got a pop-up saying there is a new version and to get it. I just opened version e that is on my notebook. Version d didn't come up with it, I'm listening to that version right now on my main computer.

Could you please let me know when I should update myself, too?

What's next? 1111? 11111? 111111?

Jeez, just test it THOUROUGHLY before realeasing the thing so you dont need to update it over and over.

Kind of like WB 4.90?

How do you know they didn't test it thoroughly? They couldn't possibly test every single possible hardware and software combination, to say nothing of all the different user habits.

It's unrealistic to expect a program as complex as Winamp to never have bugs in their releases. That's never going to happen, nor could it happen. Just be thankful that they do fix the bugs when they crop up. ACD Systems could learn from them.
