Getting bug reports from the community is a HUGE help to development. With that in mind, here’s a list of some of the big ones we know about, things we could use help tracking down, and features that are just yet-to-be-implemented.

The most useful thing for us (and often the hardest part) is getting clear, simple steps to reproduce a bug. Screenshots and video are great helps too.

Let us know what you find!

Compatibility/Stability
  • Significant multiplayer stability issues (currently a major focus for us)
  • Game sometimes stays on initial load screen indefinitely
  • Game hangs when headphones are unplugged or audio output switched
  • Some integrated and older D3D12 hardware which is binding tier 1 is not yet supported in DX12 mode
  • CPU benchmark option can be unstable

Performance
  • Low framerate if Crossfire or SLI is enabled. These features are not yet supported and enabling them can decrease performance until they are.
  • TONS of optimization work still to be done.

Gameplay
  • Engineer building queues sometimes disappear
  • Lots of balance work still to be done

UI
  • Steam Overlay doesn’t support DX12 yet

Visual
  • Game sometimes displays tinted pink or purple (suspected driver issue, still investigating)

That is a very capable system build, thirdspace99. If you're running Windows 10, make sure you have the Windows 10 version of the chipset and other drivers for your system. Make sure that when you install the latest nVidia driver for your GPU that you're checking the "Clean Install" box. You might also try the DDU utility to remove all traces of any previous driver: http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html before you do the latest GPU driver install.

After that I would suspect overheating or loose connections. While both seem unlikely, it wouldn't hurt to go over everything inside the PC to ensure it's properly connected. You can watch temps with HWMonitor from CPUID: http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html

Lastly, I'm very familiar with that videocard as I have one myself. If you will get EVGA's latest version of Precision X 16 utility from their website you will be able to use it to downclock that videocard by 51Mhz or more. Then run the game and see if you still have the problem. If downclocking the GPU fixes your problem you have a warranty claim that they will honor if your GPU is still under warranty.

Good luck! Let us know what you try and what eventually works!

Does anyone else get wonky shadows in DX12?

Benchmark on GTX770, i5-4690K, 16 GB Ram, DX12 mode:

Avg Framerate is MUCH higher than DX11 mode (I received over 104 AVG FPS on CPU test, and between 40~60 FPS compared to a 30~35 FPS on DX11), but while the 3d models were moving smoothly, whenever the screen panned, the SHADOWS would "detach" from the terrain and 3d objects, and the SHADOWS and SHADING ON THE MODELS ONLY (NOT the models themselves) would flicker and operate at 10~15 FPS, while the 3d models went about their business...

Does anyone else get wonky shadows in DX12?

Yes, other users with Nvidia have observed DX12 shadow etc issues.

https://forums.ashesofthesingularity.com/474365/page/1/

I run the game in windows mode, and when I have another application focused, the game continues to run fine, and the flickering stops, which is odd (not practical playing the game without it focused though). Not sure when it will be fixed.

For me the AI becomes passive in the lategame. Not defending nodes, not moving out, almost not building units, not repairing destroyed mines.

Will defend to a extent when attacking their main base, and even move a few units out, but never again the pressure early game.

(I play 6player skirmish vs AI 2v2v1v1)

I also have the wonky shadows (blinking)

Is it known that FreeSync under DX12 doesn't work and that it does work with DX11?

on Feb 11, 2016

Updated.

Updated with instructions on how to get back into the game if you have MGPU issues.

Yes. This is currently a limitation of DirectX 12's mGPU support.

I think the game needs more endgame stuff. It feels like there's supposed to be one more level above dreadnoughts, or at least some alternative strategies besides adjusting the stream of armies. At the moment a bombing run is about the only card people can play.

Had a similar problem. Turns out, the northbridge was overheating from not receiving air from the stock fan now that i'm Watercooled... Rigged a small 60mm Fan with tie-wraps aimed at it and the crash problem is since long gone! Didn't knew chipsets were overheating that much... Mine is a X58 BTW!

This is a great suggestion. The core gameplay needs something compelling to keep the endings exciting. It becomes a 'chore' to clean up.

Yep, VR & northbridge need cooling on many X58s. I'm running an i7-920 at 3.6Ghz with a monolithically huge air cooler, a 20mm top-vent case fan, a 40mm fan on the northbridge and a slot-mounted case fan (used an old networking adapter LOL) to blow air across the VR. Been running solid since 2009. I've just upgraded memory and GPU over the years - and cleaned the case & fans a few times!
