Whoo hoo!!!

Deskscapes is booting up and running in Windows 10 x64 reliably now.  It no longer causes startup errors, etc.

Bugs:

The multimonitor issues I mentioned in my previous posts remain.

Problem#1 - multimonitor ID mismatch between Deskscapes and Windows 10

For example, with three monitors, which Windows 10 labels as 3 1 2 with 1 being the primary in the middle, Deskscapes maps these monitors as 2 1 3 with regards to the configuration screen. This is, of course, confusing and may also have something to do with problem#2.

Note that these monitor and ID #'s match between Windows 10 and the Nvidia Control Panel.

I have included the Deskscapes About information below.  I hope this helps to narrow down the issue.

Problem#2 - position of primary monitor and some DeskScapes dreams

If the leftmost monitor is not the Primary, Deskscapes has a problem running PhotoDream (for example) on the leftmost monitor until after the system is rebooted again.  In fact, unless the leftmost monitor is the primary, DeskScapes has problems refreshing any change to the Dreams on any of the three monitors unless they are all video dreams as far as I can tell.

Curiously, if Dreams are assigned correctly (made complicated by the ID mismatch problem), a Restart of the system seems to be able to initialize the DeskScapes engine correctly and all Dreams play as expected.  Just don't try to change them without expecting to reboot again, hehe.

I hope this bug report helps.

REJOICE!!

I've been waiting patiently for a Windows 10 compatability update since this is the only program I've been having issues with since I upgraded the OS.  I must say it works perfectly (even continues playing behind the full screen transparent start menu.

I attempted recreating this behavior as I use dual monitors, but I was unable to make it malfuntion.  I was able to rearrange screen layout and swap which monitor is set to primary, all the while, Deskscapes kept running and correctly displaying any dream I through at either dispaly ID.

Excalpius: I too use Nvidia, but an older model (GTX 750).  Only thing I can think of is possibly driver version might help?  I'm running version 355.82

Psynex, thanks for contributing.   I've seen the same behavior with all recent and beta drivers, today and all throughout the beta.  Unlike many, I've been able to run DeskScapes on Windows 10 one way or another.

It may be specifically related to the fact that I am setting my primary to the monitor in the middle of 3 monitors or perhaps it is related to using PhotoDream/Dynamic Dreams?

I currently have none of the advanced settings checked (re: multi GPU, scaling, pausing) but my previous tests showed they had no effect on the problem.

Does your About report the same DLL versions and dates as in my post?

PS  And neither of these two problems occur on the same rig under Windows 7, so this is why I suspect that they are related.

It's late so I won't have time now to test out a 3rd monitor but I could give it a shot.  I was able to get Deskscapes to play dreams periodically in windows 10, but most of the time the dream would just stop playing (particularly if you alt-tab or used the task view button) when swapping windows.

Excalpius - I've sent a report in for both issues you're experiencing. Thank you for reporting them!

I have lost the ability to double-click on a dream to load, or even select Open with...  Now I have to use the configuration program which is super slow scrolling through to find a dream to load.

I have been experiencing explorer lockups and flickers/glitches on my screen on Windows 10 since installing this. Only when a dream is running.

I have nothing else installed on this fresh install of Win10 yet, other than Stardock apps. I did update my graphics driver so maybe that'll fix it.

haven't installed any codecs yet either.

Definitely check your codecs, especially on the fresh install.
