Bump........and well done.

The mechanism is new. The change to the EULA is not and dates back at least to the release of Fences 2.  Failing to read it is not going to make it cease to exist.  https://www.stardock.com/support/software_eula.aspx

Use on a computer:

  1. You may:

    1. Install and use one (1) copy of the Software on a single computer.
    2. Install the Software on another computer only if you change your main workstation. In such a case you must uninstall the Software from the previous computer.
    3. Use the Software via a network, only if you have purchased an adequate number of licenses. The number of users must not exceed the number of licenses you have purchased. The trial or free versions of the Software is licensed to be used on one (1) computer. The paid version of the Software may be used on one (1) computer.
    4. Make a single backup copy of the Software for archival purposes only.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     Fortunately, that is subject to modification........within reason.

Original thread was closed and we were directed to post here.  This is regarding this response (it's post 107, I've tried to quote it):

https://forums.stardock.com/455325/get;3478168

My response:

The person failing to read is you.  I asked if the ToS/EULA was going to be changed.

The activation on one computer was put into place to ENFORCE the EULA which you quoted above.  I'm not really sure where you're getting that I'm failing to read anything.  You put in controls into the software to enforce the EULA/TOS which states you can use it on once computer. (this is where I think you didn't understand what I was posting/asking)

Now you're modifying/removing those controls, however according to what I'm able to understand about your posts, the EULA will still only allow you to use the software on a single computer.  If the EULA does not get amended then the problem still exists, you're still violating the EULA if you install it on your computer and your laptop, or your computer and your wifes computer, etc..

I don't think I've bitched or complained about the change at all, it was a simple question.  I didn't go on a rant about how I'm getting rid of your products, blah blah blah.  I like your products, and the only thing that's annoyed me is that I've ended up buying multiple copies of the same bloody game when you switched from Impulse to whatever you're using now.

Thanks for fixing this in a timely manner and having a reasonable licensing policy.  You responded relatively quickly to the needs of your user base.  My desktop at work is happy again.

Sometimes changes have unintended consequences.  You took a lot of unnecessary abuse even after stating that you were working on a fix.  A little patience goes a long way.

Thanks again.

Sean, your reply does not reflect this statement.

I have been a good standing member here for a long time. I have been loyal, so much so that I have my subscription paid up till Dec. 2016.

There is another thread here, locked I think, that states that the new rules are to thwart one copy being purchased and used on the whole office. This is not the case with me.

There really needs to be something done about this.

From the other thread:

Quoting Island Dog,   Just an update. We are currently working on the system that will resolve the issues that have come up in this post, and should prevent any activation issues for users who want to install on their home PC and laptop for instance. We're hoping to get the changes made as soon as possible and just wanted to keep you updated to let you know we are working on a resolution. We'll update once everything is set. We're sorry for the troubles, and if you have any issues please feel free to contact support or let me know if I can help.

And there has.  Have you tried to activate on another machine?

Not yet, your reply to my ticket led me to believe that I'd have to deregister on one to use on the other.

I will go try. Thanks.
