What's the last movie you saw?  Doesn't matter if it was at home or at a theater.

Last one I saw was Captain Philips.  I thought it a pretty good movie, especially since it was based on real events.

A Walk among the tombstones with Liam Neeson. Was fairly decent IMO, to certain extent similar to Taken,  but way darker, slower and not as action-packed.

Just watched Pacific Rim. I gotta say, I really enjoyed it.

We saw the new "Penguins" movie today! It was good!!

on Dec 17, 2014

Same here, watched the Penguins of Madagascar movie two days ago and was rolling in the aisles with laughter throughout the duration of the film. Especially loved Skipper's character, who 'has the heart of an action hero and the swagger to match'!

Next on the list- The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. Hope it's good.

  I'm a Kawalski fan...love his 95% disaster vs the 5% happy endings!!

I saw Korean movie called Chaser last week. It was good, but there were some scenes i did not really need to see.

And 2 days before it, Hobbit!

Well, I don't visit the movies very much, but the last movie I saw was Pride, and I thought it was pretty good.

Haven't seen one in a while but I'm hoping to see Maze Runner soonish.... when somebody here rents it, that is.

I've been doing business with VideoEzy for close to 20 years, but no more because now I can't take out videos without photo ID... which currently I don't have.  It doesn't matter that I have a membership card issued by them, or that I have a 100% clean record with them - no late returns, etc - no, they're just jumping on the 'terror alert' bandwagon and making it difficult for ordinary, law abiding citizens.

Yes, believe it or not, a reference to 'terror threats' was used in the refusal of service

And why would my wanting to rent Maze Runner raise issues of terrorism, etc?

What is so different to Maze Runner from the 1000s of other 'fantasy' movies I've rented over the years?

For mine, the entire debacle is a crock of shite and VideoEzy can shove their movies up their fechen .... [insert appropriate expletive here]

Sorry about the rant but it pisses me off that companies like this have taken ID requirements to the extreme... particularly so for a long-term customer of good standing.

AMERICAN SNIPER

When leaving the theater after the credits, the atmosphere was very solemn and not the usual banter of moviegoers - there was no conversation at all.

Eastwood's a genius, Cooper is Greatness.

So i guess this was good? Looking forward to it, since i saw the trailer, which IMO was brilliant.

I watched Predestination yesterday. Cant say definitely it was a great movie, but it was definitely somewhat special. There are many movies dealing with time paradox and stuff like that, but i dont recall one being this complex and thought provoking. Not even Interstellar.

Yes, AMERICAN SNIPER is an outstanding cinematic achievement of unparallelled dimensions.  Eastwood sculpted it as a Western.

The making of AMERICAN SNIPER

No soundtrack during the credits introduced a performance art element to the aftermath.  Stunning in the way it plops you right back down to earth in all your consumerist Nirvana.

At first I thought you were referring to the 2013 Chaser about alienated Jewish gay schoolteacher , but the 2008 looks intriguing - going to have to check it out -

Thanks!

I saw some previews for Amarican Sniper and I can categorically state that it is NOT a movie I shall be watching.

I don't like guns and killing at the best of times, so the focus/content is of no interest to me, if not abhorrent.

I generally like Clint Eastwood movies [as an actor or a director] but this is another I shall miss due to its focus/content/storyline

The other I missed was Heartbreak Ridge, for the same reason.... the focus being on war and killing.

Yeah, I know, other Eastwood movies had killings.... different focus/message.

But is this about guns and killing? As i said i saw only the trailer to not spoil myself any further, but the focus seemed to be on tough moral dilemmas. Thats what caught my eye in the first place, i dont think i would be so interested if made the impression of Black Hawk Down on me (which was not a bad movie, but not really my cup of tea).

@Protoplazm> thank you for the link. Going to check it now. On topic of Chaser, if you think about watching a Korean movie, or have seen some before and happened to like them, personally i can recommend you a movie called "Memories of Murder", if you havent seen that one before. IMO its the best of the bunch i had the pleasure to watch. Its sort of similar to the american Zodiac, but i found this one to be more entertaining - OFC all matter of opinion.

Finally, i have seen a movie called The Most Wanted Man on Saturday - the last movie of Phillip Seymour Hoffman, RIP. Directed by Anton Corbijn and in my opinion, more style than substance. Focused on the war against terror, but lacked any kind of suspense or conflict, tension, except the final 5 minutes mayve... cant really recommend, only to people who liked Tinker Taylor Soldier Spy, which was similarly slow paced and spy-themed.

The last two we watched was the Equalizer.  Little slow, but overall it was a great movie.

Next was Into the Storm.  Not much of an in-depth story, but some cool special weather effects made it fun to watch.

Saw Guardians of the Galaxy and Edge of Tomorrow this weekend.  Good movies and I'm pretty impressed that my wife agreed to sit through these with me.
