What's the last movie you saw? Doesn't matter if it was at home or at a theater.
Last one I saw was Captain Philips. I thought it a pretty good movie, especially since it was based on real events.
Saw it at the theater. My first Statham flick. It was good.
Yeah, I like Jason Statham, he just seems so calm and relaxed in all his action roles. I first saw him in The Transporter and liked what he did, so rented the sequels as well. He was brilliant in Chaos, if you're into action thrillers it's one to watch.
Saw the Bicentennial Man recently. Then I stumbled upon one of my favorites. Not a movie but a standup by an accomplished comedian, Bill Cosby.
Ironman3.. re-watched it again just to enjoy it in hi def..
The Worlds End with Simon Pegg. It was decent and it had it moments, but it was sort of classic Simon Pegg movie - too similar to Shaun of the Dead and his other movies...
In any case, as Dexter says, tonight´s the night! Going to catch up on last 3 episodes of Vikings. Hannibal and GoT ive been neglecting over the course of this month.
Last night I had a very lazy night due to vertigo and just veged out in front of the TV... thankfully it's not 3D cos that most likely would have upset the apple cart.
Anyway, I first watched Homefront with Jason Statham, and while I enjoyed it I don't feel it was one of his better movies, though that may have been due to script limitations or the director/producer, etc. Yeah, probably a 6 out of 10.
Next I watched The Last Legion with Colin Firth and Ben Kingsley. Now that was a terrific movie and definitely a 9.99999 out of 10. It is about a legionaire who is assigned to protect the boy Romulus, who became the last Caesar just as the Goths over-ran Rome and sacked the city. The boy decides that he will follow the advice of his protector and they travel to Britannia with a handful of loyalists to find the last legion in the hope of retaking Rome, but for various reasons this does not occur and they end up settling there instead. I'm a bit of a history buff so I truly enjoyed it, but it is a more than worthwhile film even if you're not one.
Then I watched Byzantium, which is about two women who are hiding a dark secret as they settle in an English seaside town. For the storyline and plot I give this an 8 or 9 out of 10. The acting is quite good and the various twists and turns make it a great supernatural thriller.
Not sure what I'll watch tonight, what with so much choice available on Foxtel, but whatever, I'll report back here with my findings.
Snow White and the Huntsman
Watched Prometheus again tonight, but before that I saw Parker, with Jason Statham as a career crim hell bent on getting revenge for being double crossed and left for dead by his accomplices in a robbery. Yeah, pretty good... worth and 8 out of 10.
Godzilla. At the theater last weekend. My son (all of 8 years old) had been so eager to watch it but he ended up in my lap half the time, though he couldn't take his eyes off the screen for even a second and even forgot to eat his popcorn! Beats me why these kids love evil monsters and villainous dragons of all sorts; now he is looking forward to next month's How To Train Your Dragon 2 release. Phew! And I get the privilege of watching all these movies with him
Watched Ride Along over the weekend. Didn't really care for it. I generally like Ice Cube but he tried too hard here, and the other guy simply wasn't funny at all.
The new Star Trek, again. There's a post in yahoo news saying J.J. Adams won't be doing the next one. Some other guy will and the post says this dude will ruin it even more.
Sadly, there's a lot of crap movies coming out of Hollywood in recent times... some bordering on the ridiculous, others just plain stupid, and much of the remainder not worth attending to find out. It's like they're pumping them out for the sake of releasing something... anything, be it good or bad. It used to be that 3 in 20 movies were bad/not worth bothering with... now it's 3 in 20 movies that are passable - if not good - and the rest is just abysmal, to say the least. Unortunately, directors/producers these days rely on special effects [CGI] and forget about the human element, plot and storyline, and until somebody rectifies that we're gonna get more and more crap served up to us.
BTW, my nephew went to see 'Ride Along'... reckoned it was crap and walked out before it was halfway through. He said that he hoped it was just a slow start and that it would get better... but never did.
Watched the remake of Total Recall last night. It was alright but I prefer the original... 6 out of 10.
X-men: Days of Future Past- Best superhero movie of all time.
