Back towards the end of last year, I wrote about my new Lumia 920 Windows Phone.  After having using for an entire year I can say it was probably my favorite tech gadget of 2013.  In the past year we’ve seen a couple of big updates to the Windows Phone OS, and a big uptick in popular apps coming to the WP platform such as Instagram.  I know lots of people who have also been ditching their current phones for Lumia’s and have been just as happy.

The Lumia 920 is great, and Nokia has also pushed a couple other phones out there during the year as well.  The 1020 with it’s big 40mp camera, and the big 1520 with an incredible screen on it.  Having Windows Phone so closely tied to Windows 8 has also been valuable, especially as the owner of a Surface as well.  SkyDrive integration throughout has been way more than useful, and it’s taken preference over Dropbox this year too.

I’m sure in 2014 we’ll see the iPhone 6 which will probably bring a biggerscreen size, so we’ll see what Microsoft and Nokia bring out this year as well.

Yeah, I've loved my Lumia 820 as well... has served me better than well.  Excellently, in fact.  I love the fact that I can add in a 64Gb memory card and expand my storage ability... music, photos, documents... I can keep them all... in bulk.

Whats the battery life on this sucker?

on Jan 05, 2014

Most days I consider my phone-use to be 'moderate-to-heavy' for lots of email/texts including attachments etc, browsing and other app-use such as MS Office etc. as well as the odd phone call or two.  I do not play games or stream much video and don't often take pictures.  The 920 easily gets me through the entire day + evening without needing to be charged.  Of course what I consider 'moderate-to-heavy' others may consider differently so........

i agree!! the 920 is a great phone. regarding battery life; originally, it sucked. after the gdr2 update it has been superb. i currently have the ms gdr3 update installed (without the nokia black update) and the battery life has been better than great. i liked my iphones but this 920 has been my favorite phone yet.

I really don't have any trouble with the battery life.  I keep charged which is easy with the wireless charging pad.  I can just lay it on there without having to worry about cables and plugging it in.

That is one of the big advantages of these phones.

My favourite was Nexus 7. I think in 2014 I will get a Nexus 5 phone. I like the pure Android on Nexus. My kids are using the Nexus 7 way too much for gaming and Netflix. I love that its in widescreen format and not 4:3 as many pads.
