I recently celebrated my 7th year anniversary working for Stardock and began thinking about
what games and announcements have been released in that time!
This year, Stardock celebrated its 20th year and part of that celebration was the announcement
of Galactic Civilizations III! In our community, we have lots of long-time users and we also
have a steady flow of new users, especially since we released our first mobile game.
Check out some of the games and announcements over the past 20 years below:
1993
Galactic Civilizations for OS/2 was developed
1995
Galactic Civilizations II for OS/2 was released
1998
Stardock developed the StarCraft Retribution, an add-on authorized by Blizzard Entertainment
2001
The Corporate Machine was released!
2003
Galactic Civilizations for Windows was released. After publishing issues,
GalCiv became the first major retail game to have both a retail presence
and be digitally distributed through Stardock’s own system.
2004
The Political Machine was developed and released. Later that
year development began on Galactic Civilizations II.
2006
Galactic Civilizations II was released! Galactic Civilizations II has received several
awards since its first release and has been included in several top PC game lists.
2007
Galactic Civilizations II: The Dark Avatar, an expansion for GalCiv II was released.
2008
The second expansion, Galactic Civilizations II: Twilight of the Arnor was released.
The Political Machine 2008 was released, just a few months before the ’08 elections.
Sins of a Solar Empire was released. Developed by IronClad Games and published
by Stardock, Sins took off and racked up an impressive amount of awards.
2009
Demigod was released. Developed by Gas Powered Games
and published by Stardock.
2010
Sins of a Solar Empire: Trinity was released. Sins: Trinity has the original game
plus the Entrenchment and Diplomacy expansion packs.
Elemental: War of Magic was released.
2012
The Political Machine 2012 was released.
The most significant expansion, Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion was released.
Since then, 3 DLC packs have also been developed for Sins: Rebellion.
Elemental: Fallen Enchantress was released. This marked a new start in the
Elemental series and a commitment to fans going forward.
2013
Fallen Enchantress: Legendary Heroes was released. Since the expansion
was released, 4 DLC packs have also been developed.
Stardock acquires Star Control rights from Atari.
Stardock announced it was entering the mobile game market, and its first iOS game
Dead Man’s Draw was released on the App Store.
Galactic Civilizations III was announced!
Along with the announcement, Stardock offered customers to become
a founder and enjoy sneak peeks into the game, a forum
badge, and many more items!
In October, Stardock turned 20!
That's quite a history of games so far! I've spent countless hours enjoying these games,
my personal favorite is Galactic Civilizations II.
