For several years I've been using the Apple wireless keyboard that came with my iMac. It has held up from use and I really can’t say anything bad about it, aside from the fact it’s small and the wireless version doesn't come with a numeric pad. I had a coupon for Staples and saw the Logitech K750 wireless solar keyboard was on sale, so I decided to try it out as I was looking for something new.
I went with the Logitech K750 for a couple of reasons. First, I like Logitech and have owned many of their products with pretty much no issues. Second, I liked the fact it’s solar and won’t require any batteries. I need more time to see how this actually works out, but so far I see no problems. Lastly, I like having a full-sized wireless keyboard that has a numeric pad.
The keys are very similar to what you find on the Apple keyboards, but actually better in my opinion. It just feels like their more space to type which makes it more comfortable to use overall, and Logitech uses the typical Mac layout so keys are right where you expect them, including the function keys for Dashboard, Mission Control, etc. As I’ve mentioned a couple of time, this has a numeric pad and it does the job like any other.
I’m excited to see how the solar works on this in the coming months. It supposedly doesn’t require much light to charge and will work for up to 3 months on a charge if needed. Logitech also makes a Solar App that’s available on the Mac App Store. This tells you the status of the charge, and if the keyboard is receiving good light for charging.
I’m happy with the purchase and we’ll see how this keyboard holds up over some more use. I know this was focused on the Mac version, but Logitech also has a PC layout version, and several colors are also available.
You can pick one up for around $59.95 on Amazon.
