because it did. it also made all my desktop icons visible and disabled the quick-hide feature of fences. sorry, guys.

Reboot your machine and it should be fine.

Regarding DirectX, there is a misconception on that.  Windows ships without the DirectX helper dlls which is why games and DeskScapes require them to be installed and so use the DirectX update.  It doesn't update DirectX itself, it updates the helper dlls (D3DX_xx.dll)

neil, after reinstalling deskscapes 8 and rebooting, the desktop icons are still visible and the quick-hide feature of fences does not work. sorry. i hate being the bearer of bad news.

Could you contact support@stardock.com as the issues you are having are not normal or expected and we have never seen them before.

Also is this Fences 2 or 1 Pro and have you made any changes to make Fences start up quicker after login?

Same problem, reboot worked. Win 7 64 bit.

Thank you for putting Revert back to original wallpaper back as an option. ( a well hidden one, I might add.) Still will not apply a dream to either monitor without also appying one to the other. I would prefer it leave the wallpaper applied to the screen I do not want a dream running on.
