What does spell-like effects with no casting mean?

Growth potions, etc.

AFAIK, it means Pariden units will have their unique effect without casting animation in the beginning of each battle.

Sweet deal!

Kinda too bad this release isn't 1.0 instead.....probably would get another 4 points from reviewers if it were...

Sounds great!

The link for http://download.stardock.com in the original post has the comma at the end as part of the link; it is a bad link at the moment.

To be honest, I wouldn't expect most of them to put enough time into a TBS to notice the differences, except for crashes.  And there were few of those in the first official release.

@)(#*)@*# your patch system still blows away soft mounts on windows 7; which means the entire blob has to be donwloaded to install. I appreciate the hard work et all on the game but there has to be a way to fix your patch system; it is the only one that does it. Any clue why this happens ??????

Any advantage over installing 1.01 as opposed to the recent beta?

Yes. More fixes. More AI stuff.

"A supported release version of Elemental could not be located on your system".

I am using the 1.0 release from the Stardock site, with no beta patches applied. Apparently the install location according to my registry is %FolderExists%

edit: Windows 8

I dunno, read the patch list, a lot of those bugs are visible problems. I started a game of 1.00 and gave up in frustration after two hours when my list of bugs encountered reached almost 20 long. You don't need to be a genius reviewer to work out there are a lot of problems with the release version.

Have you seen much mention of visual issues in the few reviews that appeared, so far?  I can't say I have.  I don't want to be too harsh on critics, but most sites prefer reviewing games that are easy to comprehend very quickly.  TBS products typically aren't, and they also usually aren't the big sellers from large Game Industry companies, that justify that time because of ad revenue.  (The Civ series I think would be an exception that proves the rule.)  Even the best intentioned reviewer probably isn't going to have much time to spend on FE, and there are all too many "reviewers" out there now on endlessly proliferating gamesites whose main qualifications for game reviewing would seem to be an enormous ego, and a knowledge of the last two or three FPS titles.

I have played a few hours with the 1.01 patch and they game is IMMENSE fun. Without the instant-building-bug I finally am competing on fair ground with the AI and it's a blast.

THANK YOU STARDOCK!
