Stardock’s much anticipated PC fantasy strategy game, Elemental: Fallen Enchantress is about to go “gold” and its official release date has been set as Tuesday, October 23rd. The development team at Stardock, led by Derek Paxton (Fall from Heaven) with a campaign designed by Jon Shafer (Civ V), unveil Fallen Enchantress, a strategy game that brings the kind of detail and richness normally only seen in RPGs.

The world of Elemental was once filled with magic. All peoples made use of this sorcery; with it they built great kingdoms – Malaya in the south, Hallas in the west, fabled Al-Ashteroth in the East – all magnificent, and vastly different, civilizations. Then came the Titans, immortal beings who sought control of Elemental, and the magic contained within it. They waged war amongst the people, the land, and themselves – and in the process turned men into their vassals. Seeking control of the world’s enchantment, in the end they destroyed it. At the last great battle, the land itself was broken. Civilization perished, and the Titans vanished from the world entirely. There were survivors. This is their story…

Fallen Enchantress brings the story to players in this rich, story driven strategy game. Create a sovereign with unique talents and abilities along with a faction to align yourself with in an effort to bring the world under your control. Experience a challenging start as you attempt to conquer the land you intend to claim: monsters, bandits and other beings of dread await you as you set out to explore your territory. Other factions are pursuing similar objectives, raising the stakes and deciding the ultimate outcome: who wins, and who dies.

Fantasy strategy gaming on a massive scale, Fallen Enchantress hosts unique factions, unlockable unit designs, unforgettable quests and with randomly generated worlds and multiple paths to victory, you will never play the same game twice.

I'm glad you guys took your time with this one. We've really seen the pay off this past month or two.

Yea, I think Fallen Enchantress demonstrates the beauty of digital distribution.

My son's Windows XP machine had some problems with Beta 5 but the latest build fixed that. It's been solid as a rock on Windows 7 since, I don't know when.

I think the things the community worries about will still be debated a year from now. Should the monsters attack more? Should they attack less? Should champions be nerfed more? Should they get buffed.

I'm just glad that's the kind of discussion we're having this time since the game's already so fun and stable that we can engage in WoW style nerf/buff debates.

So I guess we have 2-3 betas left before release

For me the game will be release-ready if the following 5 issues are addressed:

1. Autoresolve not using magic or special skills (it was supposed to be resolved in beta 0.983 but it still persists)

2. Floating waterfalls at the end of rivers which end in land

3. Go there button allowing us to zoom to areas where resources are destroyed

4. Memory leaks causing graphical bugs (oceans disappearing, white treetops etc.) and crashes

5. Stacking of flame blade and other buff spells

Game have still 2 many bugs and errors and very bad AI. I think no chance 2 fix it in 3 weeks (becasue you dont fix them for 7 months).

Plz first polish game, fix all bugs reported by testers, improve AI... if no many many players will be angry and will be wanted refund for FE (like with ewom).

Any one from SD play and finish FE?  Even on insane AI is very stupid...

Actually I find the faction AI to be pretty good at stomping faces. I usually lose now on Expert difficulty without making custom factions or respawing starts.

Now as to whether they would win any quest/spell victory even in a million turns, i am not so sure... And yes monster ai is dubious. And maybe tactical ai is not great, but it is good enough imo.

You've made a total of 3 bug reports since the beginning, complaining about crashes to your save game without any information about your pc, without submitting your save game or the debug.err file and with no specifics. You have not reported any other bug. You need to avoid making general negative comments when your contribution to the beta test is so small...

Congratulations to all at Stardock for getting the game to this point.

This game is a joy to play and while there are things I would love to have seen improved with regards the UI, I think the game is very good and will be one of my favourite games for quite some time. I just hope the launch is successful enough to warrant future patches and further iterations.

Putting my UI wishlist aside and trying to look at the game through 'first-time eyes', I still feel there is a little work that needs to be done to ease new players into it. There are some very important game concepts that aren't explained anywhere - such as splitting XP between champions in a stack. That is a pretty big deal if you don't know about it. Also I turned back on the tooltips to see what it was like for a new player starting off and they didn't really explain enough about the game (Food, Production, Essence etc). The tutorial is also quite confusing for a first-time player I think but that may be because I had turned off auto-turn.

Anyhow, good luck with the launch.

I disagree with you on bugs and AI.  I think the AI does pretty well on the strategic map, and the tactical map it is pretty good.  There is time for tweaks, and the AI can be tinkered with for months as SD continues to play more games.

The AI kicks my butt all the time.  There are a couple things that I disagree with, but that is a game concept and SD just has a different opinion.  Since they are building the game, I would think their opinion would certainly count more.

Congrats.

Logically, AI main developing phase is when all things are fixed. It is relatively easy to adapt AI to fixed things. All they need is to find and use effective patterns for AI. But it is possible only when things are fixed.

I happen to second your UI wishes and enjoy watching your 'let's play' videos.

To Everyone at Stardock:

Truckloads of luck with the release and reviewers that are bored by console ports.

How good are you? I cannot win on Hard with default sov Altar. Just as I though I had a chance tonight Kraxis came with 5 times the power ranking of me and everyone else. I play with dense monsters and hard world difficulty.

Congrats to all at Stardock! I am ready for some campaign action!
