For new PC buyers:

If you purchase or have purchased an eligible Windows 7 PC anytime between June 2, 2012 and January 31, 2013 you will be able to purchase an upgrade to Windows 8 Pro for only $14.99 (U.S.) which will be redeemable when Windows 8 is generally available on October 26th. Why do people insist on calling the window 8 downgrade an upgrade is beyond me.

Has anyone seen a $39.99 price for the upgrade as shown on the Windows Blog page linked above?

Newegg has it for $69.99 (on sale, normally $99)..... LINK

my bad....I see that's for the download version.

If Microsoft says it's $39.99 for an upgrade, it should be a maximum of $39.99 everywhere, regardless of whether it's a download version or a boxed version. Newegg must be trying to pull a fast one, I'd email them on that for sure.

If you purchase through MS, it is $39.99, however....."If you prefer to shop at a local store, a packaged DVD version of the upgrade to Windows 8 Pro will be available for $69.99 during this promotion."

Also, if you wish to get a DVD from MS, not just a digital download, it costs an additional $15 plus shipping.

I am not willing to give up 7 for 8. So I will likely be buying the OEM full version, so I can have both.

I'm just doing the $39 upgrade.  I could care less about a box.

In case you do want the Pro box, I always recommend Amazon.

Microsoft Windows 8 Pro

So, you like 8 enough to give up 7?
