I think I can safely say ObjectDock Plus is the app I have the most interaction with on the desktop.  I say that because it’s how I launch most of the applications I use during a given day.  I have some in the Windows 7 taskbar, but those are mostly browser and e-mail apps.  Everything else is stuffed into tabs in ObjectDock which I organize by category.

For example, I have tabs for the games I play and another for my Adobe apps.  Along with several others tabs.

Do you organize yours in a similar way?

Ahem....

That's what DX is for.

Well, you can't blame a guy for trying...

When I do use Object Dock, I do organize with the same eight categories I use in DX, WorkShelf, etc. Similar to yours.

Good article, Spencer.

Nearly exactly the same order EXCEPT I put Stardock in one of those fun fly-out dohickies on the General tab, and I don't have Adobe I also have the Taskbar tab up on the end, mostly because I wanted to see how it worked and never removed it.I also had a Folders tab on the other machine. I never used it so I didn't recreate it on my current one.

I have two other bars I use. Bottom is: My Computer|My Documents|My Pictures|Stored Photos|Downloads|<a bunch of junk that comes automatically with the zoomer bar>|Internet  This one gets used constantly except the junk.  The side bar (zoomer) is a link to the pictures folder (again) favorite graphics program (Photo Impact) favorite graphics viewer (IrfanView) text edit (Edit Pad)  Screen Saver Factory Pro, an on-screen color selector (ColorPic) and a screen measure (PixelRuler) Plus a link to the directory I keep the books I am writing. This one is used constantly when I am doing something with graphics or photos (that and the web links to PhotoImpact related stuff) I use it some for the baby skinning stuff I am learning (that sounds really bad)

Ok so I would really like to have just one tab dock the way it setup above. However If I have to reformat or in the latest case got a new computer 4 months ago, save my dock config so I can just put it back as it was instead of starting all over again from new. Is there a link telling me this. One would think after I have been here for a few years and made several docks I would know this but I don't.

Also when I got this new computer all I did was install OD plus 2. Yet I have both the regular and 2 in my Programs list. Have no idea which one I'm using and only know if I add docks I have to put them in the regular OD Background lins in order to see them. I want to delete the regular OD but don't want to lose my setup so it stays. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Don't know about the first stuff (deleted) but as for knowing which you are using, Dock 2 has an entirely different front end. You have to choose "Settings" on your dock and then usually "Settings" again and you get a window that lists all your docks. You can scoot around between them to adjust things.  Old OD has a menu that is tall and  often another menu to choose other docks. OD is loaded via the Startup folder (at least mine always was) I had to take that out when I installed OD2 Once I got the old one out of the Startup menu, then the other loaded fine by clicking on the link. I ended up putting the new one into the Startup folder to load it when starting. I had to do some tweaking to get it to look the way I wanted. The darn thing ignored where I had my downloaded backgrounds and such, so I moved them to the OD Plus folder in the appropriate places. I also moved all my downloaded things from the old OD to the new one as well. I had collected quite a few and immediately missed some of them when I switched. So once you make sure you are running the correct one and find that you are missing stuff, you might need to reinstall or search for them and move them where they will be found. New OD will copy your bars and tabs and such, it is just all the other things like alternative bars and icons you might loose if you don't copy them.

Dunno if it was the proper thing, but I have now all those hundreds of icons and twenty some bars where they can be used.
