Adobe has officially released Creative Suite 6 and the new Creative Cloud.  CS6 includes the popular line of applications from Adobe such as Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Premiere Pro, and many more.

The new Creative Cloud is a new service that - for a monthly fee - allows you to have access to all the applications in Creative Suite 6 and a host of other features as well.

Creative Cloud features:

  • Great Tools. Members can download and install all of our CS6 tools and can use them even when disconnected from the internet. Members also get access to Muse (our new HTML5 tool for designers) and Edge Preview (our new HTML5 tool for interaction designers). They also benefit from deep integration with our touch tools like Photoshop Touch and Adobe Ideas.
  • Storage and Sharing. Members content can be automatically synchronized across of their PCs, mobile devices and the cloud. The files are accessible from anywhere, on any device and easily shared with colleagues or clients.
  • Publishing Web Sites and Apps. Members are able to host up to five websites for free and will be able to create and deploy digital brochures and catalogues to the iPad and iPhone.
  • Ongoing Innovation. We view the Creative Cloud as a journey and intend to update its services often. Members will be guaranteed to always have access to the most up-to-date products and services all included as part of their membership.

More detailed information will come today at their live launch event.  The Creative Cloud starts at $50 a month, which has some advantages especially for users who can't afford the entire suite of products at one time.  However, there are obviously some drawbacks as well.  We'll take a closer look at the Creative Cloud soon.

You can get more information about Creative Suite 6 and the Creative Cloud at the Adobe website.

They also announced for users of CS3 and up that the first year of Creative Cloud will be at $30/month.  Quite tempting.

By making this a monthly fee, it's now 100% deductible as a business expense.  No more depreciating software.

The beta is supposed to be good for 60 days after install. The only problem is it doesn't say how much time is left. Mine is still going.

I ordered the upgrade.  $199.00 is not bad at all for CS6.  It would help if I knew how to use it better so guess it's time to buy a book.
