Like many of you, I love a good sale or bargain especially in these economic times.  So many forums I visit have a thread like this I wondered why we don't have one, so now we do.

Lets use this thread to post any PC video game deals you might think would be of interest to other gamers.

Picked up Cities XL on the midweek Steam sale last week.  Very interesting.  I like the way I'm not tied to a SimCity grid.  I'm a sucker for city builders and I think Cities XL really delivers with the options it has.  I do miss the region map because I believe location matters (unskilled workers are not going to commute daily halfway around the world...) but it's a little thing, and for the most part I don't trade workers anyway - it's always easy enough to just build another zone.  So far.

I bought Cities XL with the sale on Steam too.

One thing I can say for sure is that relative to Simcity (2000 and 3000, at least), the game mechanics are very simple.

For example, I built a factory next to a farm, and the farm suffered no ill effects. I intermindled residential, commercial and indutrial zones, and put low skilled and skilled housing next to each other, and the only warning I got was that people were having a hard time moving into the city.

In simcity, doing those kind of things made people move out, not try to move in.

Another member suggested mods to change the gameplay, but so far, all I've found are building mods.

If I understand correctly, it was orignally a multiplayer game, which could explain why it's so simple relative to the single player SC games.

Civ V Gold on Steam for $12.50 USD through June 10th!!!

on Jun 07, 2013

Does anyone use www.reddit.com/r/GameDeals ? That's my go to for all new deals these days. Also, amazon launched a new indie game store, and they are featuring amazing deals and bundles for the whole month of June. Their Double Fine (+other games) bundle is even better than the recent humble bundle.

I've always used slickdeals.net for deals.  I did not know reddit had a setup here.  Thx for mentioning and I'll take a look.

That sub actually looks really active as well.  Worth a look for others imo.  http://www.reddit.com/r/GameDeals

One thing to keep in mind is that Elites have a lower tolerance for everything than Executives, etc going down.  Unskilled workers will live anywhere they can get a job.

As for farms/factories, not sure how that works yet.

The economic system is really neat though, a single city needs some of everything, houses demand stuff, industry demands the previous industry and resources, etc. so that you have to build some of each.
