Stardock has released the public beta for Tiles today.  Tiles is an application that lets users organize their desktop applications into pages of tiles.  You can quickly view and manage your running applications with Tiles as a customizable sidebar.  The look of Tiles can also be customized further with additional themes, background images, and more.

The beta version is fully functional with the company looking for feedback from users on additional features and usability they would like to see. Users can also optionally add features through the integrated in DLC interface.

You can download the free app here!

Is this version any different from the one available to us ODNT subscribers?

on Nov 17, 2011

Different that ODNT subscribers will have full functionality.  The update on Impulse/Stardock store otherwise includes just some fixes and such.

I entered my Object Desktop email and password and it won't activate the extra features.  Still asks me to activate again when I get back to that screen.

Send a note to support@stardock.com and we'll figure it out.  Welcome to the world of betas, eh?

Are you sure the features did not activate (and so vanish from the list) and just leave you with an ObjectDesktop item + the premium skin in the list?

If so thats perfectly normal.

An easy way to tell if things activated is if there is a skins item on the left hand list or not.  If so it activated something.

yes there is a skins menu items so it may have been activated at download.  What threw me is the Add features screen has an enabled "Activate existing purchases" button.  I assumed that would go away once I had activated it but obviously now.  I know at the previous beta release I did have to go through the activation process once but the setup screen was visibly different after that.

I'm one of those who didn't really understand Tiles.  Your demo changed that and I now intend to take advantage of it.  Thanks very much.

I just wanted to say I totally love Tiles. Is very easy and very useful when I do my Photoshops.

I noticed there is an update fo Tiles. I purchased and downloaded the app from https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products. I launched the Impulse app, and there is an update from v0.95.0 to v.98.0 available. I tried to register, but it won't accept my registration code. Everything else is filled out correctly. In other words, I can't get to the upgrade (v.98.0). How can I get the lastest upgrade?

Hey Neil... we need a "Layers Panel" for Tiles.
