Okay, this update has totally screwed up my game.

1. Some buildings no longer build and are "stuck" in the building tab, not being built

2. My unit costs are now all messed up, and some units are only allowed to train on experianced not normal (or stuck on group setting)

3.  All units minus Peasant, Pioneer, and Caravan WILL NOT train at all (and the costs and such are STILL WRONG)

4. I have NO custom mods spells, builds, or anything else, yet it still says it is "Loading Mods" or something of the sort

5. Sometimes my units AND cities DO NOT gain experience OR level up in any way.

So might I ask WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON???? Is there a way to fix this?????? SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME

(EDIT) I would appreciate it if SOMEONE would either PM me, Reply to this in this forum, or E MAIL me their ideas or SOMETHING (nikko91206@yahoo.com)

Sgt_Harris did you upgrade from an old version of the game? There are some issues when that happens. If you upgraded from 1.1 or anything before, you should uninstall by removing your entire folder and downloading the game again from impulse.

I updated from 1.3, and had the same issue. So the first time I DID uninstall and reinstall using Impulse....then nothing, it is still happening (Plus doing that made me lose my custom character and Faction which sucked)

Any other ideas?

(EDIT) Forgot to say I also have the Relic of Agerlynn download or whatever it is from Wal Mart buying it so yeah

And now, finally, I am tempted to purchase the game.  How long has it been in process, over a year now?  I drooled over the teasers, got excited about the descriptions and FAQ, hoped it was the game I always wanted to play... but I waited for a few reviews and some user feedback.  I'm glad I did. But based on this new release, I think it's time to buy!

At this point it makes a lot more sense to wait for the expansion (Fallen Enchantress), because that will cost you similar amounts of money but comes with far more dramatic changes.

From what I've read, Fallen Enchantress is designed as a completely different game.  Same world, different style.  I went ahead and purchased the game last night, fired up the first game this morning, and promptly died by a Bear. lol!  I decided "Hey, maybe I should RTFM!"  So I sat down to read the handy PDF manual... and it only matches up about 50% with what I saw in the game.  That's disappointing.  To be fair, I'd rather the devs spent more time on game balance and fun than on documentation, but still, I like to know the rules of the game and the manual seems at least 2 version out of date.  Some abilities have bee nerfed (Daring is 3%, not 5% in the manual), some have apparently been changed completely, some have been added (Attunement, for example); some kingdoms have no disadvantages (unlike the manual says), some heroes have big disads (unlike the manual says), etc.

I'm gonna play it tonight (wife-free evening!) and see if I keep it or put it away...

So maps have to be one continent. :-<

Pretty much.....it killed the whole idea of oceans and continents and separate powers developing on each, it killed a lot of the game i liked when they took it away

I´ve been playing 1.4 all along the weekend, what means that I was pleased with the changes, but no more. Just right now, when I´ve come back from work, it doesn´t load my saved games. It is kind of weird because I believe that yesterday I was able to load some of them.

Regarding to the 1.4 changes, I don´t like the huge increase in mana for the Teleport spell, 250!!!, are we crazy??. It would be much better, and more logical, that the cost was per unit basis. This would make you to think in which of your heros is going to be sent to do the job.

But first of all, please Stardock, fix the memory errors once and forever!!

I have been playing for a week now.  One bug I run into several times is during tactical combat - sometimes when a unit's turn ends, the game refuses to acknowledge and move on.  Other units can be clicked on and examined, but the turn won't advance and combat is frozen.  <ESC> won't bring up the menu - the only exit is to manually crash the game (ALT-F4, Task Manager, etc).  This has happened during a screen saver activation, another time after a long pause while I answered the phone (no screen saver), and other times right after using a special ability (or having one used on me).  Not every time, of course... maybe one out of every 10 combats.

Otherwise I like the game, but seriously -- no boats? And I'd like some indication when planting a settlement how it is going to be constrained... some cities have no trouble growing up the side of a hill, and others just arbitrarily stop in seemingly open plains; some cities transform blasted land to grass, and others seem to just leave the blasted lands, and languish at size 1.

Last bug I've seen three times now: AutoResolving a combat between my 2-unit army (Hero + Dog once, Hero + Hero once) and a Level 1 Bandit or Outlaw.  My party is wiped out, and the bandit is unharmed!  In both cases, the heroes in question had at least defense 5 and attack 7 or 9 (padded armor, axe or spear).  That's some bandit!

Sorry guys, I'm throwing in the towel on E-WOM. I respect that Stardock has tried to stick with it and get it right, as I have come back several times after a major updates to give it another shot, but I still find this game almost unplayable with not much help at all on what to do (found some old video on youtube) and choppy graphics on my system with a good graphics card. I had high hopes as an old fan of Master of Magic, but I'm done.

Hopefully Fallen Enchantress gets it right.

Thanks for the effort, and I'll be watching future releases

I haven't given 1.4 a chance.  I may someday, but I doubt it.  There are just too many other games to play.  I gave WoM a ton of play for months, but no game can keep my attention forever.  I think even if they made the mythical 1.5 "Everything Xia wants patch", I doubt I would put time into playing it.  Right now I see my game schedule being Mount and Blade, then Skyrim, then Old Republic.  Those games will keep me very busy for a very long time, I imagine.  The patches have been too little too late to keep me interested.  I hope FE inspires some play time.  Right now, if I was given FE to play, I doubt I would even turn it on.  And it looks like an awesome game, but I'm a little Elemental burned out.  Hope it comes out in Feb-March, I imagine by then I will be really wanting to play it.

I think it will probably be coming out right when I leave for Basic. I hope Aircraft Carriers have game time... I still play a few hours of WoM every night. It really is fun if you know what you are doing.
