Decent price....yet another darn good reason for peeps to switch to the first MS OS that actually works....

I can see all those Mac Defender scared Mac users running to MS now with this deal.

Really though, looking at Amazon's listing for Windows 7, all versions are discounted a bit, not just the family 3-pack upgrade box

You got that right....

Gots to agree with all the above. Now all we have to do is see what Win 8 will be like. Hope its not like Vista was to XP.

Ya if it wasn't for the fact that it keeps your old XP license  tied to the PC.. meaning you can't take your copy of XP and install it on that old thing sitting in the corner. It might be worth it if it didn't use both of your licenses on a single install. But upgrades are a suckers bet considering your now using a copy of windows that ties up 2 licenses but only one legally allowed install.

I guess as people in the industry you guys don't think twice about the ludicrous licensing restrictions.

People keep saying that.. but I've never had problems with XP.. rarely had problems with Win 2k. now.. ME, 98 and 95 were nightmares but that was a LONG time ago. And honestly my experience with windows 7 has been horrible.

I have vista and I mildly am annoyed with it.  I would like to upgrade, but don't really feel the need to yet.

M$ is planning to release Windows 8 in October.

on Mar 20, 2012

Any chance someone wants to move in with me and go halvsies?

on Mar 20, 2012

I wouldn't buy Win 8 in October, 2012, even if I could get it at half price!  In fact, I wouldn't buy Win 8 any time in calendar year 2012.  Talk about your Nightmare Scenarios ! ...

(Okay. This is just MY opinion. But cross-check the thread that Mr.Wardell started on "Who is still runing Windows XP?", for a related discussion of how various Windows OS's had (and still have) an impact on the PC gaming community.)

What Windows 8? There will be no Windows 8, just a thin client that will stream everything (including your saved data, your visual theme, your calculator app) from and to some "cloud" somewhere.
