Technet subscription... $249.00...50 various copies of Windows 7 = $4.98 each

Edit: It looks like Microsoft cut down on the amount of keys alloted by half.

It's still worth joining, though.

Windows 7 professional for $64.95 through the ultimatesteal website.  You have to a be a student to get the offer though - http://www.microsoft.com/student/office/en-us/default.aspx.  It used to be $30...

Anyway, I got my copy for $50, same as a few of you when the preorder offer was out.  Too cheap to pass up.

I can still get windows 7 through my university for 30 bucks.

How many copies, where do I send the check...lol.

Got Win7 Professional for a steal. Same person who paid me with my laptop kept the 32 bit version and gave me the 64 bit version. Now that's a deal.

I think mine was $350 AUD [lousy memory]....10 keys each of various flavours of Win7...but the bonus was/is the Office vers....and the variations of XP and Vista [to stick on VM]...and all sorts of other bits and pieces....

You can also find occasional great deals on ebay or craigslist.  I bought mine for $79 ... it was actually an 'upgrade disc' for some brand name computer, I think Compaq, but it had a license for a full, fresh install instead of an upgrade only.

Slight correction - you only have to have a dot edu email!  I know, I already picked up the Office pro for $80!  I love my edu email!

And while's the "kind of" true, the actual stipulations are:

1.  You must have a valid e-mail address at an educational institution ending with the domain suffix .EDU (i.e., leina@contoso.edu) OR have a valid email address at one of the educational institutions listed here.

2.  You must be a student at a U.S. educational institution and must be actively enrolled in at least 0.5 course credit and be able to provide proof of enrollment upon request.

I doubt they check if you are actually enrolled, though.

Yeah, when I signed up it was 10 keys, now it is down to five.  I payed for 10 keys, not 5!  Time for an email to Microsoft!

Edit:  Just talked with the TechNet Concierge, he said that it is a known issue and they are working on it.  Should be 10 keys.
