I know this has posted a few times before, but since we have so many new users to the site and game, I wanted to post about it again.  Destiny’s Embers is a book written in partnership with Random House by Stardock CEO Brad Wardell.  Destiny’s Ember is a book written about the world of Elemental which revolves around the Kingdom and the Empire trying to regain the mastery of the world.

The book will be available on August 24th, and can be found at several retailers including Amazon.com.

I wanted The Fanboy Edition, which would include a copy of the book along with the game, map, dragon... Can I order one, pretty pretty please?

Thanks for the info on the book and the campaign tie in.

Also thanks Island Dog for the video links in that other post! they were fun to watch.

Come 8/24 I'll be happier than if I stumbled into a raspberry pie factory with a big spoon!

Cheers!

Glad I read this. I was under the impression the book did come with the Special Edition already. Guess I'll wait and see if I have to buy it seperately or not. No biggie though. The game's already coming with a bunch of cool stuff

The Lore book comes in the LE, but Destinys Embers is a different.

Why not sell the ebook version through Impulse? Just a thought.

I don't have the exact answer, but I can only assume since the publisher is Random House they have distribution setup through their channels.

Harpo, you can purchase the book from Amazon

why would I want to go to a jungle to by a book?

and the shipping time from the jungle to australia is 18 to 32 days, so it is a LOT quicker to wait and buy locally

I prefer to see the item I want to purchase BEFORE handing over my money.( I know this is old fashioned, but at least it minimises the losses due to fraud)

Indeed. I wasn't referring to the Lore book though, I meant Destiny's Embers. I could have sworn Frogboy said something about it coming with the Special Edition back before the Special Edition was even available but I'm probably mistaken or just remembering wrong. No worries

just some info for the fellow aussies,

the book's australian release is the 15th september 2010(according to my sources in various bookshops),

and the game's australian release is the 9th of september (according to the info from several of my gameshop contacts)

harpo

I'm glad I ordered the game over Impulse then, waiting until the 9th would be painful.  I'll visit a bookstore for Destiny's Embers though I think.

Might as well for Bradley to write a new book on how he managed to run a company, direct the development of a new game, and write a novel based on that game.

How much new white hair did that take?

The limited edition is sounding less and less "limited"

I see this available for the Kindle.  Will this be available for the Nook (Barnes & Noble e-reader)?

So what's the timeline of the story between the game's campaign mode, the book and the bonus campaign for the book buyers that will be released later? Game -> book -> bonus or book -> game -> bonus or something else?

on Aug 22, 2010

I also have this same question. The thing is I don't want to be spoiled by the game or by the book. I'd like to read the book / play the game in the correct timeline. Which order of reading / playing should I follow if I don't want to be spoiled?
